I'm not sure I learned much of anything in this semantics class, but I love the professor.LING3452 2026-02-24 20:05:37 +0000 UTC
Professor Littlefield was awesome! Super easy course :)LING1150 2025-12-06 21:50:48 +0000 UTC

Heather is incredible and everyone should take a class with her if they have the chance. Super friendly and genuinely cares about the students' thoughts.HONR1310 2021-12-31 20:28:50 +0000 UTC
The assignments were very time-consuming and not always straightforward. However, she is very accessible for outside help as she will schedule 1:1s with you outside office hours to help on projects. Checking projects by her before I submitted really boosted my grade for the second half of the course.LING3440 2021-12-16 17:25:26 +0000 UTC
Ling Analysis is a hard class but Heather did her best to make sure we all were prepared for writing our papers and doing our research. She does the best with what she has considering each intro to ling class is different meaning everyone starts with a different knowledge base. She's super understanding and is always willing to work with you.LING2350 2019-01-22 21:38:18 +0000 UTC
Nice lady. Very knowledgable. Expects way too much from her students. Avoid courses with her, if you can. The linguistics department has great professors, all of whom are much more reasonable than her.LING3412 2016-03-05 00:39:00 +0000 UTC
Professor Littlefield is really funny and has interesting stories. However, I do feel that she is an overly tough grader. The assignments are interesting, but it's hard to know what she expects, and you get points off seemingly at random sometimes. I also agree with one of the other commenters that she can be somewhat condescending at times.LING3450 2015-09-03 23:55:09 +0000 UTC
Extremely nice lady, always glad to discuss the material after class and very intelligent and knowledgeable - you can tell she loves linguistics! However, Linguistic Analysis was one of the most work-intensive and harshly-graded classes I've ever taken. She's a great teacher, but almost too tough to recommend.LING2150 2012-04-12 17:38:20 +0000 UTC
One of the best profs I've ever had. She's very smart and really knows her stuff. She's also incredibly helpful and HILARIOUS! I looked forward to her class every time. She is the goofiest, nicest person. Answers emails within the hour. She challenges you, but it's always within reason. love her love her LOVE her! I was so sad when class ended.LING300 2011-12-09 01:28:24 +0000 UTC
Good: super nice, passionate, incredibly knowledgable, willing to help, and energetic. Bad: apparently doesn't realize students have other classes and assigned a gratuitious amount of work (and I didn't procrastinate). Reasonable final. Tips: pick the simplest language you can and take phonology, syntax, and semantics courses first. It will help.LIN350 2008-05-01 15:57:16 +0000 UTC
The class was really interesting but the work was really demanding. She's slow on grading, so don't expect to see that paper you worked all night on ever again.LIN456 2008-04-03 16:57:43 +0000 UTC
Work intensive class. Thoroughly goes over concepts and brings people of all levels to the same speed. Huge language research project of your choice - best not to procrastinate. She's tough but very fair and funny as heck. Quite dedicated and passionated about linguistics and helping her students.LNG350 2008-03-16 11:49:18 +0000 UTC
nice, sweet woman. horrible class. attendance is mandatory (only allowed 2 absences..excused or not) structure of class very boring, most notes i've ever taken in a class. if intro to linguistics isnt required for you, i reccommend taking a different class.LINGU111 2007-05-11 09:35:32 +0000 UTC
Littlefield is an awesome teacher and person. She's sooo funny and down-to-earth, which is VERY refreshing in academia. Class has a very communal feel. My time commitment for the class is low since the only assignments are a few homeworks and a final. No book is necessary-- just take good notes and you'll be fine.LIN454 2007-04-11 21:31:52 +0000 UTC
