I loved the class! And I'm a peer tutor now for it and this is the best professor for fina2201 to ever take. Tests are easy if you study, heavy on trick questions though. Honestly, the way he explains concepts is so confusing. The concepts on his slide deck are over complicated and it takes several attempts of asking him to clarify for him to give a more clear and direct explanation. Professor Sharifkhani is a quality instructor who's knowledge is extremely comprehensive and rich. Ali is clear on expectations and what you need to do to succeed in this course. I loved Prof Sharifkhani!!! I chose finance concentration because of how much I liked the class. The tests can be challenging, but he curves them to 80%. His lectures were informative, I never once read the textbook and was totally fine. Loved him! The subject was extremely difficult but he wasn't. He would hold office hours the nights before exams, sets up 1:1 time, actually cares about his students. Dont have to show up, but if you do he gives you hints for the test. Most of us got 40s on the test but he scales and we all got 80s. Very caring professor who truly wants the best for his students. Exams are hard and require a lot of studying but he provides you with so many resources and example problems to help you do well. Ali knows it's a hard class but tries his best to alleviate the stress by making sure his students are ok and happy at all times. Goes over information super clearly and is very organized on canvas. Cares about his students but is not an easy class. Exams are really hard with problems that were never seen on HW. Textbook won't help you too much - best way to get an A is to do EVERY practice problem. Type of class where you have to go above and beyond for an A. Definitely difficult, but you could tell Ali genuinely wanted every student to understand. Lots of weight on exams, but curves generously. Not many homework assignments, but they took me hours and hours to complete. For sure do the practice exams and examples in the slides.
