The class is on zoom which is not advertised when you sign up. All he does is zoom into his notes that he wrote a while ago and goes super quick. He never actually solves anything, just again zooms into already solved proofs. He never goes over any problems just shows derivations. This is too complicated of a subject for it to be taught this way.CHME3322 2026-01-26 17:07:57 +0000 UTC
He knows his subjects very well, but his questions for tests are readily available online. Not sure if he reuses old questions or takes his inspiration online. Sadly, the courses focus too much on the proof of the math and not the effect of the theory.CHME2320 2025-12-21 13:27:16 +0000 UTC
Honestly, he's quite a good teacher and clearly knows his stuff, although he can sometimes come off as condescending in class. Exams are hard for sure but the grades you get on them really don't matter that much, I think everyone in my class got at least a B despite a much wider range of exam grades.CHME3312 2023-05-15 04:31:52 +0000 UTC
He is one of the best professors Ive had. He really cares for his students on a personal level and is willing to help beyond the course at hand, perhaps throughout your professional life. Youre sorted if you attend his class as he teaches everything you need to know. He made challenging concepts fun and Ill always look forward to his classes.CHME7320 2021-12-09 01:05:02 +0000 UTC
Good guy, tough teacherCHME2310 2020-11-16 04:24:50 +0000 UTC
He is the best and most charming professor I've ever had. People who are complaining probably do not do the homework themselves, otherwise the course is not that difficult. Great lecture!MA200 2020-09-14 05:29:05 +0000 UTC
I've had class with Berry a total of 4 times. Every semester I've had a class with him I've ended up depressed, depression which goes away as soon as I don't have a class with him. He won't teach you any concepts although he will claim he does, he'll spend hours going over problems in class and expect you to do them in 5 minutes in his tests. Had Barry for transport and thermo. A nice guy and hard worker but not a good professor as he thinks he is. His class leaves you confused. You may learn to derive some equations but left not understanding the chemical engineering concepts. Students earn 8, 20, 30 on his exams cause he makes them very difficult. Not a good way to motivate studentsTHERMO2 2018-09-05 01:16:11 +0000 UTC
Barry was very demanding but made sure that you know the material. His classes do require a lot of independent outside work in order to get a good grade. However, I have never felt more confident in my math skills.MA102 2017-12-13 14:49:45 +0000 UTC
I had Prof. Satvat for Thermo 12 & Transport 2. He has a dark sense of humour that I appreciated. Course grade is all (curved) exams, which range from impossible to fair. Transport 2 exam problems require math that one student may know. If you bomb the first midterm you can redeem your grade on the second. Doesn't care much about final grade.CHME 2015-06-22 11:15:42 +0000 UTC

I'm taking a summer course with him at Mass Bay C.C. and while most of the material is way over my head, he somehow makes me understand. His mildly dark sense of humour puts a smile on my face, and I respect him too much to miss a single class. He says he teaches a a hobby because he enjoys it so much, and it is obviously true. My number one!CHM641 2008-04-08 11:04:51 +0000 UTC
an arrogant ass. doesn't hold office hours because he's too busy with his 300 other titles and positions and then assigns daily homework that the T.A. couldn't help us solve. yes, he's smart as hell. yes, he's funny in class. however, could not convey the basic core material to a ChemE that got an A in Organic Chemistry and Diff Eq. try Nagem @ BUCHEU320 2007-09-07 11:23:32 +0000 UTC
Humor - a riot. Smart, bright, well spoken. Should think twice before leaving class during a test (people cheat). Methodology to passing his class - get objectives and solve.THERMOSKINETI 2005-08-24 21:33:21 +0000 UTC
