The curriculum lacked clarity, especially around the paid online simulation. We were expected to “figure it out” without foundational instruction, and questions about how it worked were not clearly answered. Lectures felt disconnected from Canvas and the Sim. The 5 weeks of intense group work were challenging, and overall the course felt disjointedHRMG6223 2026-02-26 11:54:48 +0000 UTC
Dr. Odom is awesome!! Super knowledgeable in consulting and shares a lot of his personal experience. He's really down to earth and treats his students as equals. Class is very discussion and activity heavy. Few things make up your grade like the simulation and a couple presentations, so try to do good in that. 10/10 recommend!MGMT4450 2026-02-02 15:30:06 +0000 UTC
I enjoyed Professor Odom's class. Throughout the semester, the professor uniquely integrated AI, and students learned how to write clearer prompts. To be transparent, the simulation is a significant portion of your grade, so I would try to get comfortable with it and ask questions earlier on.MGMT4550 2025-12-12 01:45:08 +0000 UTC
Talked a lot how amazing his course is but grading is so confusingly unreasonable. Not an easy AMGMT4501 2019-04-04 02:56:56 +0000 UTC
AMAZING - super nice guy who knows how to teach. He also has some amazing work experience that he shares, infused with Ted talks, which makes the classes overall interesting. No need to read the textbook - tests are an in class paper on a case study which is kindly graded. Super inspirational too!ORGB3201 2017-12-15 19:17:27 +0000 UTC
Amazing lecturer. That is about the only positive thing about him. I would say "avoid," but he is the only one teaching this required class, so "good luck." He is not reasonable. When he admits to mistakes on grading he still won't change the score. He is not rationale. Has a god-like complex and thinks he just has higher standards than others.HRMG6223 2026-02-24 13:26:59 +0000 UTC
If you have a bad group in this class you will have a very difficult semester. The amount of work you put in does not reflect your grade. Unless this class is require I would not recommend.MGMT4450 2025-12-11 04:44:44 +0000 UTC
I really enjoyed Professor Odom's class this semester and would say he is one of my favorite professors in DMSB! He recently restructured the course to include AI and is extremely receptive to feedback. The group airline simulation project is a lot of work, and it rewards detailed analysis and group decision-making. I recommend Prof. OdomMGMT4550 2025-12-08 18:25:39 +0000 UTC
One of my favorite classes and professors at NU and even better guy. Decent work load, but topics are interesting. He will change it up if the class is feeling stressed. 5 stars all the way. You have to take him at some point, very interesting, gets to use his real life experience in lectureORGB3201 2017-10-31 18:48:12 +0000 UTC
Although he can be pretty hard to reason with at times, he's genuinely a good professor. He has a lot of experience and he is a good person to ask about anything regarding post-grad plans. If you don't communicate or reach out to him, you most likely won't do good. Just talk to him regularly and you will be fine, don't worry.MGMT4450 2025-04-29 01:47:02 +0000 UTC
Professor Odom is genuinely one of the best DMSB professors! He really embraced the use of AI during class, gave really engaging lectures, and he is very passionate about what he teaches. The group simulation is a fair amount of work but so worthwhile, and he was always checking in on our progress throughout the semester. 100% recommend taking!MGMT4550 2025-12-04 16:20:47 +0000 UTC
EXTREMELY harsh grader - avoid if you care about GPA. Going forward this class has a lot of proposed changes that will make it even harder. He treats you like an adult, but is really inflexible with grades and deadlines. His class had a lot of potential to be more enjoyable, he's a fun lecturer. Wish my grade reflected the time and effort I put in.MGMT4450 2025-04-27 00:58:38 +0000 UTC
Professor Curtis cares, knows what he is talking about, and is passionate. He has experience and has been in the industry which provides stories, lessons and advice throughout the course. Heavily weighted on an airplane simulation & presentations that if not done well, can impact grade severely with minimal individual grades to make up for it.MGMT4550 2025-12-04 13:38:02 +0000 UTC
Typically felt like meaningless busy work. Would NOT recommend. The whole semester you are working with the same group, and he offers no peer evaluations so if you get a bad group, you're screwed.I was hoping to get some real consulting experience in this course, but instead, I left with nothing but a lower GPA to show for it. Professor Odom is easily one of my favorite professors I have had at Northeastern. He has completely restructured this course to remove exams and papers. It is heavy group project based and he has very clear grading criteria and a clear syllabus. He integrates AI into the course well and really wants student input into making the course better.MGMT4550 2025-12-03 20:36:43 +0000 UTC
