I wish I read RMP earlier. The entire class is just memorizing jargon. I'm convinced that he designed the introductory MIS course to steer students away from the department. Good for him, because I'm never taking such a course again, especially when he's teaching. Avoid at all costs.MISM2301 2026-02-22 15:43:28 +0000 UTC
Subpar professor that teaches with enthusiasm, however is overly critical of work. Wastes 20 minutes every class engaging students and covering the previous classes material. The rest of class is spent covering slideshows that are visually incredibly difficult to understand.MIS2301 2024-12-21 07:21:06 +0000 UTC
Person below me is the teacher's pet, go figure. Dias holds a high standard for his students and none for himself He waited until the last month to grade everything and is extremely condescending and unhelpful with all of his feedback. I can confidently say I didn't learn a thing in his class and was a total waste of time. Never again.MGMT3530 2021-04-13 20:26:39 +0000 UTC
Makes boring material exciting and interesting, I enjoyed his class and found him to be a fair and clear grader.MGSC6204 2016-11-02 20:35:07 +0000 UTC
Dias is an amazing teacher and one of the best I've had at NU. Im not a "tech" person and he was able to actually get me engaged in this dry MIS class material. You need to participate and do the HW! FYI you can google online quiz q's for answers. Definitely need to study for tests and read the grading criteria, it really helps to score higher.MISM 2014-10-09 14:16:10 +0000 UTC
Just back to remind everyone that he designed MISM 2301. Yes, all the 10 odd sections who take this class every semester learn the same outdated jargon filled stuff because he does not care to change anything about it. He needs to go.MISM2301 2026-02-14 18:16:35 +0000 UTC
Professor Dias's class is definitely more difficult than other MISM courses but you will learn so much from him. The class is based on weekly case studies and he gives very detailed feedback on them. Class participation is weighed very heavily, participation every class is expected. Hard but definitely worth it, Professor Dias is great.MIS2301 2024-05-07 14:37:14 +0000 UTC
MGSC 6204 Managing Information Resources was a require MBA course focused on IT systems. This class had very little value to me and a heavy workload for a 1.5 credit class. The only positive experience I had was with Prof Dias. He kept us engaged every class and was a joy to listen to. Great professor! Boring subject that had very little value!MGSC6204 2016-06-16 22:19:40 +0000 UTC
Honestly, he shouldnt be that bad for you, if you actually put in some work.MISM2301 2026-01-07 20:10:21 +0000 UTC
Smart guy, terrible teacher. He is knowledgeable about MIS but can’t get the concepts across to students in a meaningful manner. Its obvious from his feedback that he only glances over homework and grades them based on how many buzzwords you throw around. As other students have said he is incredibly condescendingMIS2301 2022-03-05 00:54:50 +0000 UTC
I hope he stops teaching. Spending a third of each class “revising” the previous class while skipping slides in the current class is ridiculous. Easy material made unnecessarily hard. Pointless jargon, outdated class materials… I could go on. Avoid this class at all costs.MISM2301 2025-12-29 07:30:25 +0000 UTC
Professor Dias' lectures are very hard to understand. A lot of the information within the textbook and lectures isn't applicable to the case studies. He grades case studies strictly and tests (there are 3) more leniently. It's pretty hard to get an A in this class so if you're trying to protect your 4.0, you probably shouldn't take this professor.MIS2301 2021-04-30 18:28:47 +0000 UTC
I have no words. I have learned nothing from this course, and I got an A with 95% attendance. I found out today that his professor is responsible for the course being designed in this manner. Hundreds of students learn nothing in this class every semester due to him. I hope NEU changes something because this should not fly with the amount we pay.MISM2301 2025-12-19 03:33:45 +0000 UTC
if you do not answer questions in class, your participation will be 4/10 even you come up every class. 10 minutes quiz before each session, 1 case study every week, 3 exams, no final.MIS2301 2019-05-02 19:18:02 +0000 UTC
Pros: Excel, Figma, group work doesn't trash your grade, professor Dias is lively and has (dry) humor, theme Thursdays are fun, provides feedback even for hw, literally tells you "this will be good for your notes..." Cons: 1> hw due per week, required textbook ($$), some topics felt less necessary than others, lectures can get boring, gradingMISM2301 2025-12-17 17:35:20 +0000 UTC
