if you've never taken calc before, RUN. he basically just takes notes on the book and then just writes them on the board with little to no explanation/teaching. if you go to office hours and display an ounce too much of misunderstanding he quickly gets condescending. just a bad teacher overall, your better off switchingMATH1341 2025-12-15 06:08:35 +0000 UTC
The class is much harder than I expected, but it was quite rewarding. I love space and everything astronomy so doing the work didn't feel like a chore. The homework takes hours but you have between 1-2 weeks to do each one and you have a partner. Prof Hudon loves the material which makes the class more enjoyable. Lectures are long and important!PHYS1111 2024-04-16 17:13:14 +0000 UTC
How tf does he still have a job. In class he just copies worksheets onto the whiteboard and expects you to make sense of it- gives NO explanations . Absolutely no partial credit on quizzes and he refuses to put anything into canvas so you dont actually know what your grade is. Over half my class withdrew.MATH1341 2025-12-12 02:18:44 +0000 UTC
If you want to take this class as a fun elective, save yourself and take something else instead. Lectures are very dense and fast, and there's way too much material for a one semester class. Literally harder than a physics class, too. Homeworks take hours, he grades them super hard, and provides little feedback.PHYS1111 2022-05-09 16:48:19 +0000 UTC
At first, I thought that these reviews were being dramatic because calc is expected to be difficult. He seemed to be approachable and accessible during office hours. However, he can often get snappy, rude, and treat you as if you are dumb. He starts off with difficult examples that he won't test on and lectured fast. He also has weekly quizzes.MATH1341 2025-03-17 19:14:56 +0000 UTC
Makes the homework have nothing to do with the lecturesPHYS1111 2022-02-09 22:51:54 +0000 UTC
Terrible Teacher and even worse grader. I have not gotten a question wrong on some quizzes, yet I was given an 80. If u know calc 1 already, just don't come to class and read the textbook. AND IF U TAKE THIS CLASS, SHOW ALL WORK DO NOT MISS A SINGLE SIGN OR NOTATION U ARE WARNED.MATH1341 2025-02-06 17:43:15 +0000 UTC
Great professor who likes physics. Very funny and has good conversations. Lectures heavily and don't skip class because he gives pop quizzesPHYS1111 2021-12-16 01:03:08 +0000 UTC
Read these reviews and assumed that it couldn't be that bad. It was. I often went to him for help when I didn't understand material, and at first, he was welcoming. But, when it took me longer to understand the material, he was very condescending, despite seeing that I was trying and seeing that I often scored 90's on the (very short) quizzes.MATH1341 2024-12-18 22:09:28 +0000 UTC
Prof Hudon is clearly very enthusiastic about his subject. However, that does not translate in teaching or how he treats students. He was not very understanding or caring when it came to any of the students in class and had the tendency to be sort of mean.PHYS1111 2021-05-19 13:33:29 +0000 UTC
was going to give him a higher rating until the final which covered a topic he straight up did not cover in class. no mandatory homework is a problem waiting to happen and literally nothing graded besides weekly quizzes, a midterm, and a final means your grade is unbelievably volatile. classes were not awful but not amazing.MATH1341 2024-12-10 02:19:46 +0000 UTC
Its better to show up for the weekly quizzes than for class. This guy faces the board the whole time, copying things from the textbook. He doesn't make sure we're following and skip steps. When you do have a question he is completely condescending. its bareable but make sure do all the prac. problems. He grades like he's rationing the pointsMATH1341 2024-12-04 14:57:19 +0000 UTC
He does not teach. He literally reads straight from the textbook and gives exact examples from it. You can simply skip class, read the textbook, take notes yourself, and it would be the same. He grades only 3 things: quizzes, midterms, and final. If you do poorly on the quizzes, then goodluck, because his midterm is way harder. DO NOT RECCOMENDMATH1341 2024-11-22 02:08:10 +0000 UTC
Dr Hudon is super funny! also very passionate about physics/astronomy. the quizzes and tests come straight from the homework in the sylllabusMATH1341 2024-10-24 16:27:23 +0000 UTC
