Helpfulness-wise, she is eager to assist, but the advice and answers she gives rarely simplify the material. Her accent is easy to understand, but her handwriting is atrocious -- I just use the book. I had to drop this course. For comparison, I retook it with a different prof and got an A. With Barberis teaching, there's no way I could have passed. She in no way prepares you for quizzes and tests, because the homework and practice tests are completely irrelevant to the actual graded material. Her lectures are disorganized and tedious. Physics is a horrible subject, but she keeps me interested for the hour I have to sit there. She knows what she is talking about and that is refreshing. Quizzes every week are often given without proper preparation. If youre new to physics the class will be challenging for you. Attendance is usually useless b/c the lectures come straight from the book. She usually derives formulas in class but doesnt do enough applications. However, do the reading and attend the recitations to do well on the weekly quizzes and exams. Apparently a lot of people who rated her are first year students. You're in college, her accent is nothing. Not a BAD teacher, but not my favorite. She does what she has to and that's about it. Let me clarify: the problem with Barberis is that it is VERY difficult to concentrate on what she's saying. She rambles and tends to stumble a lot; she is unclear and does NOT teach well; besides, everything she teaches is in the book. pretty good. might be a bit hard to understand if you have no physics background, but refer to the book (you'll probably have to for the mandatory HW) and you'll be fine.
