Professor Ho is definitely a caring teacher, however, he gives too much homework and if you are not fluent in reading and writing standard notation you are cooked. He relies too much on the textbook as well.MUSC1201 2025-11-22 21:57:48 +0000 UTC
taken as an elective, thought it would be simple and easy. no. insane amount of homework (coming from an engineering major). tons of reading, hws are twice a week but take several hours, especially if you're acclimating to new software. attendance is mandatory. Tests are unnecessarily hard, given less than a weeks notice and no in class reviewMUSC2350 2025-10-19 20:49:07 +0000 UTC
Professor was decent, class was awful. Very tough grader - if you got even part of a homework question wrong he gives the assignment a grade of 10% until the question is corrected. There is also a ton of work. If you want to have free time during the summer, don't take MUSC1119.MUSC1119 2024-08-13 23:16:03 +0000 UTC
Professor Ho is super talented and really wants students to learn the knowledge. A LOT of homework tough.MUSCMUSC 2022-05-05 04:35:18 +0000 UTC
Professor Ho was great - super friendly and cracked jokes throughout class. In general, the classroom had a welcoming environment between both Prof. Ho and the students. There is a bit of homework, but it's definitely nothing out of the ordinary, and he makes it manageable/is flexible about deadlines as well.MUSC2111 2021-12-21 06:47:42 +0000 UTC
Hubert is a beast. 10/10 music professor, he really makes the NU music program worth it. I did a few of his classes. He's highly skilled as a musician and he's pretty good at explaining things if you ask questions. The work is not usually very easy but it is never a lot so you get to explore things well. And he is funny and very aware.MUS2111 2021-02-19 15:46:34 +0000 UTC
Such an awful professor. Inconsiderate, so much work. This class literally made me break down 3 times a week. Avoid, especially if you run anxious. He has good intentions, but NOT a good experience.MUSI1203 2020-10-31 05:41:45 +0000 UTC
As someone who's never taken a music theory course before, I found his class to be one of the hardest things I've ever taken. He moves really, really fast in the class, so it was difficult for me to catch up. Seems like a good person, but i wouldn't take a course from him unless i was an experienced musician.MUSC1113 2018-04-02 23:11:52 +0000 UTC
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! I cannot stress enough how bad it was. The professor is not bad, but the content is impossible for an 1100 class. If you are not a music major STAY AWAY. Taking this class was probably my worst mistake in Northeastern1100 2015-08-19 22:48:48 +0000 UTC
Hubert is not afraid to act silly in front of the class in order to get his point across. He actually cares about students and always answered the few questions I had completely. I really enjoyed his class and learned aspects of film that I'll never forget. I think he's a great teacher overall and the class was easy.FILMA 2011-09-08 21:33:53 +0000 UTC
Professor jumps right into theory assuming everyone has been playing music for 10 years. I do not play an instrument (music tech major) and i was given no chance to review or catch up and fell behind immediately. 3 chapters of work the first weekend, spent nearly all of my time doing homework, just for him to say “practice more”. Super unhelpful.MUSC1201 2025-09-10 23:44:54 +0000 UTC
Acoustics and Psychoacoustics with Professor Ho was the most difficult class I've ever taken in my life. With that being said however, it is also my favorite class I've ever taken in my life, and Professor Ho is one of the best professors I've ever had. If you're willing to put in an ungodly amount of work, this class with Prof. Ho is a must-take.MUSC2350 2025-04-12 15:52:06 +0000 UTC
Dr. Ho is great, he cares about his students and facilitates an open and comfortable learning environment. You can tell he is really passionate about the subject matter and very much an expert. You should get ready to do a good amount of homework if you're planning on taking this class, but it's not anything that won't benefit you in the long run!MUSC1119 2021-06-23 18:03:25 +0000 UTC
Hubert Ho has changed the way I see music, arrange my furniture and talk to my friends and family. He is ridiculous. Did I mention he has perfect pitch? Honestly, Hubert is a great guy, with a sense of humor and a firm understanding of his field. Class flies by (my first time check is usually half way through class) and Hubert makes it interesting.MUSCMUSC 2011-12-04 22:06:01 +0000 UTC
Professor Ho is really humorous, and he always made the class interesting by playing us some songs to explain the music theory. He knows everyone's names because he gets everyone engaged in class. There are a lot of quizzes but very easy as long as you understand the theory. One of my favorite class at Northeastern! Recommended!MUSI1203 2016-10-26 13:56:17 +0000 UTC
