I took his 1201 class at Northeastern. Looking back, I really should have appreciated his class more. It was an 8 am accounting class, so yeah it wasn't exactly the most thrilling course in the world, but he provided sufficient resources to succeed and prepared you well for exams. His class motivated me to pursue a degree in accounting.1201 2024-11-18 04:03:10 +0000 UTC
Took this course about a year ago when it was his first semester teaching. While lectures were kind of reading off the slides, in-class activities were great. They were very practical as we used Excel. Exams aren't too hard, you just have to understand the reason rather than memorizing it. Group project was nice, and final was curved. Nice guy tooACCT2301 2024-09-27 01:12:49 +0000 UTC
Loved this professor, great teacher, but do NOT skip class otherwise you are screwed. Getting behind = you're done. I got behind, and my A dropped to a B-. Funny guy, helps a lot if you ask for it, the final project and report are graded pretty lightly.1201 2024-04-15 18:57:47 +0000 UTC
Despite it being his first semester teaching, Professor Flake is one of the best professors I've had at Northeastern. Although it is a lecture heavy class, he is available outside of class and is easy to reach via email. The study guides for tests are very helpful, and if you show up and participate it is impossible to not do well in the course.ACCT2301 2023-12-23 16:24:02 +0000 UTC
Flake is the best accounting professor at NEU. Attendance is mandatory for understanding and his lectures can be a little dry and long, but he gives a break during class. Grade is made up of two exams, homework, and four quizzes. Make sure to study for these using practice problems in Canvas. Great class and the final grade is curved at the end.1201 2024-01-07 21:00:45 +0000 UTC
The best professor I have had at Northeastern. It was his first semester teaching but he was very organized, straightforward and accessible outside class. Responded to my emails within minutes. Also uses Excel which is great and very easy to understand. Overall great person and couldn't recommend him more.ACCT2301 2023-12-23 16:16:21 +0000 UTC
Do not reccomend. Very apparent he lacks teaching experience, slides have typos, frequently misspeaks during lectures, overall unprepared. Class was confusing for learning accounting for first time. Seemed to dislike me reaching out for help, made me apprehensive to get feedback. Seems nice in general, but bad at teaching. Lectures are SO BORING!1201 2023-12-19 01:23:17 +0000 UTC
For his first semester teaching, he did a really good job. While lectures can be a bit on the boring side, he does a a good job at simplifying topics and equations. He's very accessible for students in and outside of class. Overall, he was open to feedback and grew as a professor over the course of the semester.ACCT2301 2023-12-19 04:16:25 +0000 UTC
Jared is the best prof I've had, it just sucks that the class was at 8 am which I feel hindered my learning. Accounting is generally a tough subject, and you need to put a lot of effort/practice in to be good. Do the extra practice, go to office hours, put the work in and you'll be fine. As long as the student puts the work in, you'll be good.1201 2023-12-15 18:28:08 +0000 UTC
Very caring professor, he wants to see everyone succeed. However, it is VERY evident that this is his first semester teaching, and it is quite often when is unable to answer students' questions. Very by the book so be prepared to attend class, very lecture-heavy, and the presentations are usually regurgitated information from the textbook.1201 2023-12-02 01:09:28 +0000 UTC
I absolutely LOVE Jared Flake so much! Even though it's only his first semester of teaching, his lectures are so straightforward and pertain to what will be on his exams. He is so caring and wants to help everyone succeed and I thoroughly enjoy his class. His quizzes are all online with no lockdown browser and he provides so many resources to study1201 2023-11-16 19:05:11 +0000 UTC
