He was great! The class is very vocab oriented.AMSL1101 2021-07-16 17:16:36 +0000 UTC
I have never enjoyed a class as much as my ASL 101 with Jim. I took the class on a whim to fill my schedule and ended up liking it so much that I switched my major to include ASL. He was so helpful and nice. He always did everything that needed to be done and was so sweet and cute. I'm excited to take more classes with him. LOVE.AMSL1001 2013-04-17 00:01:42 +0000 UTC
Jim is an awesome teacher! One of the best and funniest ASL teachers I've ever had. You have to go to class and do the work, obviously, but he is a great person to learn from. He's so funny! TAKE HIS CLASS!ASL2101 2009-12-02 09:38:52 +0000 UTC
jim is a great guy, but a little hard to follow sometimes. he will sometimes bring up an assignment a week before giving out guidelines, then make it due really soon. however, he is usually willing to help you during office hours and his funny personality makes class entertaining.ASL102 2007-07-25 12:25:37 +0000 UTC
Had Deaf History and Culture, and he was the worst professor I have ever met. In fact, I think the ASL dept is the worst dept in this school. He hated you if you weren't an ASL major. There is no way that u can get an A bc everything is subjective in grading and he hates all NON ASL majors. Don't take this class.ASL350 2007-01-03 22:38:01 +0000 UTC
I have taken both ASL 101 and ASL 102 at my previous college and Jim is by far the worst professor I have ever had. He is rude and very cruel to his students. I am dredding having to avoid courses with him in the future because I am an ASL major. DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH JIM LIPSKY!ASL101 2006-11-14 21:44:40 +0000 UTC
Pretty good teacher. We had a few problems but that didnt affect the class much. Hes a very nice guy and does care.ASL 2006-08-10 14:37:18 +0000 UTC
This teacher is the best ASL Teacher at Northeastern. If you want to take a ASL class take it with Jim. Hes great and easy to understand.ASL123 2005-07-03 10:47:42 +0000 UTC
Hes a really great teacher!! Definitly very approachable. He challenges you and makes you work harder. The class is totally worth taking if you are interested in ASL.ASL101ASL102 2005-05-06 11:46:55 +0000 UTC
Jim is the best ASl teacher. I had Pelgrim after him and missed Jim in that class. Jim is adorable, animated, fun, and very nice. He is a great teacher!ASL101102 2004-11-16 19:46:35 +0000 UTC
Jim Lipsky is one of the most amazing teachers I've ever had. He's really changed my life!ASL1 2003-11-21 11:37:11 +0000 UTC
Professor Lipsky did not seem to really care about his students. 2 of my classmates dropped out because of the lack of support. While I understand his English is not perfect I do not understand why if multiple students reach out for help you reject them! I needed help and wasn't given any, he needs a TA or something.AMSL1101 2021-02-10 20:50:57 +0000 UTC
Jim is by and far one of the best professors at NU. He works with you and isn't afraid to take time to discuss anything with you. He has geninue interest in your life, and is very understanding. He is a fairly tough grader, but it's well worth it beause he's working to improve your sign language. Very friendly guy, and I highly recommend him.ASL102 2005-12-13 10:45:51 +0000 UTC
Jim rocks. I came to NU partly because of it's ASL program, as I hated foreign language. Jim is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, he's got a great sense of humor, and he's willing to go the extra mile to help out the students. This isn't the easiest course, but it's well worth it. Take it!ASL101 2004-12-19 18:39:22 +0000 UTC
Jim is an amazing professor! If you want to learn ASL, just do yourself a favor and take his class. Attending class is mandatory but it isn't boring so don't worry (I took four years of boring biology lectures. I know boring; his class isn't). Jim is harder on performance grading, but other than those, he is really kind and patient.AMSL1101 2020-06-17 15:58:40 +0000 UTC
