I had a terrible experience. The lectures we recorded in 2013, did not provide office hours (he was too busy with his other fulltime job to meet/call), the only grades came from a midterm and final (which students had to write and solve) and two papers with very little guidance. Very helpfulapproachable, speaking to him and participation is a bonus. VERY knowledgable about Statistics. Gives an easy project at the end that can boost your grade. Terrible, absolutely terrible for business statistics. He makes all the classes and homeworks so damn tough, its impossible to keep up with him. He shows no mercy and is very strict with his grading. He is a nice person and knows how to teach in a way that helps students understand some very complicated definitions. Assignments were set perfectly for us to wrap up all the knowledge covered in the class. He is a super kind and caring professor who loves when people participate and ask questions, he does grade participation which is aimed to help everybody's grades, not harm it. Homework is given once a week, with a week to complete it. I will NOT recommend this professor at all. This professor does not have any skills of teaching, the way he teach is unbelievable, even he does not care if you understand or not. Professor McGovern is not only a great professor but also a great man. He cares about his students and has a very interesting background serving in the Navy. He gives you homework that you need to deliver in every week, they are long and quite complicated, but they do prepare you very well for his exams. McGovern is a solid professor but has a bit of a laidback "do it yourself" personality which can be very difficult. He often refuses to review things already said, and rarely repeats himself. Professor McGovern was one of, if not the, best professor I have ever had. He doesn't simply tell you things and expect you to remember them, but rather walks you through formulas and information in a way that makes you come to the conclusions on your own.
