Professor Hosein did not add any grades to Canvas throughout the semester and we just saw our final grade at the end of finals grading period. Regardless, he's an incredibly intelligent and interesting professor to talk to/would love to take a class with him again. Prof really makes sure to explain really hard topics in a way that's easy to understand, and he makes everyone feel comfortable to speak up during class. However, the entire semester will be graded based on 2 papers, one exam, and participation. Dr Hosein is great, he can translate difficult material into plain language that almost everyone can understand which is essential for this subject. He's very accessible outside of class and is always willing to help you with papers and assignments. I really enjoyed this class and learned a lot throughout the course. It was very reading heavy, but all of the resources contributed well to the topics of the class. I only felt that the grading speed should've been a lot faster as I didn't really know my grade until the last week. Professor Hosein is quite skilled at pushing the class to think about every side of an issue. He really pushes you to look at every angle and consider the tough questions. The class is definitely geared towards philosophy beginners though. Combination of papers and tests - both are fairly short and straightforward. Dr. Hosein has a talent for synthesizing (very) dense and dry content into interesting lectures and engaging group discussions. He's very understanding if you're having trouble, and is easily approachable for help.
