Prof Amie is such an inspiration! My favorite prof at DU, I switched to a Sociology major after taking two of her courses. I strongly recommend her ASEM: Deviant Bodies. She assigns a good bit of reading, but the knowledge you gain is worth it. She is very understanding and creates an open environment for class discussions.SOCI2850 2023-08-20 21:36:50 +0000 UTC
if you are a sociology major who isn't Graduate level deep into it, then please change your major! She is very intense about Sociology.SOC4302 2011-09-24 19:22:11 +0000 UTC
The instructor is very condescending, and grades very sternly. Final paper is very intense and she will lower your grade if she does not like or agree with your thinking process.SOC1635 2010-11-20 21:13:22 +0000 UTC
This is an elective! Too much work given for an elective! what is she trying to prove???SOC4174 2008-05-15 04:01:38 +0000 UTC
Amie is a wonderful teacher and mentor. This class completely change my view of day-to-day life. Every topic we discussed was interesting. There are a lot of articles to read, most of which are thought-provoking. There is a reading quiz every three classes and it's usually pretty easy. You should definitely take this class.SOCU260 2007-12-04 10:16:14 +0000 UTC
This class is awesome. Everything we discuss is so interesting, and Amie is really cool, she's not much older than we are. She talks to us like she would her peers, she doesn't lecture at us. Bi-weekly reading quizzes that aren't so hard, interesting paper assignments. Allows a couple absences. This class made me want to minor in sociology. AwesomeSOC260 2007-10-22 17:08:20 +0000 UTC
Amie is a great teacher. She wants you to suceed in her class. She has weekly reading quizzes which are not hard if you do the reading. Sometimes there is a lot of reading for the class, but it can be accomplished by skimming the headings and intro paragraphs. She grades fairly and is open to all suggestion. All class discussions/movies no lecSOC4147 2006-12-15 12:22:48 +0000 UTC
One of the nicest TA's on campus. Will take every class she ends up teaching because she is so smart and helpful and friendly. Wants you to do well in her class, and her reading quizzes are so easy if you just do the reading.GENDERS 2005-09-06 20:31:02 +0000 UTC
Don't take her. She's absolutely terrible and the class is boring.SOCI2850 2015-03-11 16:30:22 +0000 UTC
A fair instructor. Intensive final paper though. Will communicate with you, and is very cooperative and understanding. I recommend.SOC1635 2010-05-31 22:42:05 +0000 UTC
She is a very intelligent young professor who makes class pretty interesting. Rarely lectures, mostly has class discussions, which I found much more better. She puts grades up on blackboard, but it will take her weeks to get them on their. She never hands back quizzes so you don't really know what you are doing right or wrong.SOCU260 2006-12-02 19:50:21 +0000 UTC
She is really nice and this course is very interesting. She definitely lets you know how she feels on the issues, but she creates a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere so you don't feel uncomfortable speaking up (even if you disagree with her). She makes the course interesting with movies and great discussions.SOC260 2006-11-19 12:56:22 +0000 UTC
