Danny was a great teacher! He's super passionate about what he's teaching and every lecture was insanely eye opening. There are only two tests and two papers but he is very clear that as long as you show up and pay attention you will do well. He doesn't tell you anything about the tests before you take them but it's everything you learn in class.SOC1246 2024-05-11 03:52:15 +0000 UTC
Faber is one of the best professors at Northeastern. Although his lectures can be a little hard to follow, he is super down-to-earth and super understanding. Attendance wasn't mandatory but if you want to do well on the exams then you have to show up. Exams and papers are super chill, with most of the class getting A-/A. 10/10 professor and class.SOCL1246 2023-04-24 00:48:23 +0000 UTC
He is a genius. Take the opportunity to learn from him because he knows a lot. He also brings speakers to teach about subject. As long as you reflect in your papers, you'll do good. It's a 4500 level course but don't be intimidated by it. Around 1-3hrs spent/ week in hw and assignmentsENVSOC 2023-04-13 18:29:42 +0000 UTC
Easy A. Only two papers that constitute your grade. You get to choose the topics to write about. Professor was unorganized and didn't really have a solid curriculum. I never knew if there was a reading that I was supposed to read. He also repeated a lot of the same things every lecture. Intelligent man. Very passionate about the environment though.SOCL1346 2019-11-07 15:55:13 +0000 UTC
Faber is simply the man. If you're taking a class with him, it is probably because you have at least some interest in environmental problems, and he is actively involved in identifying and solving these problems. I could not imagine a more suitable professor.HONR1205 2011-12-21 13:55:26 +0000 UTC
Very interesting class, although the lecture can sometimes be very dry. Many interesting videos used. At times however, the professor's bias was very apparent. He is very socialism slanted, and seems to hate everything capitalist. Overall, very informative if you can filter out the radical marxist rhetoric. Oh, and the TA was useless.SOC246 2009-12-03 16:23:42 +0000 UTC
Assigned two papers and two tests. I didn't do any reading except a little for my papers and I got an A on the paper. I was a little worried for the midterm because I felt we hadn't learned anything yet, but it was a piece of cake. He shows a lot of movies, too... just go to class, pay attention, you'll do well. Highly recommended!ENVSCI 2008-03-12 21:32:30 +0000 UTC
Very good teacher, very knowledgeable about subject.. BUT talks about himself a lot. Assigns his own published essays to read!SOCU246 2007-10-23 13:04:37 +0000 UTC
Great teacher. Take this class if you can. Very interesting stuff covered.SCOU246 2006-10-27 21:57:25 +0000 UTC
Smart, personable, and involved. Only a few other professors that I'd ever give such overall goodmarks. I would highly reccomend him - especially if you're into that social theory bag.CURSOCTHOUGHT 2004-12-11 11:29:45 +0000 UTC
Prof Faber is very accomplished in the ENVR field and is highly respected. HOWEVER, he often doesn't use slides during lectures and goes on tangents that make it hard to tell what we should be taking notes on. Very lecture heavy, but sometimes shows documentary. Lots of reading, but content is very interesting. Two exams and two papers (all 25%).SOC1246 2023-01-09 18:13:54 +0000 UTC
Great guy. Very knowledgeable. Fascinating lectures. 2 tests and 2 essays are your entire grade but the tests are all multiple choice and if you show up to class, you will get an A. Highly suggest taking his class.SOCL1246 2022-07-21 23:15:45 +0000 UTC
Awesome teacher! Take his class if you get the chance... environment and society. I learned a lot and it was really interesting.ENVSOC 2005-04-25 22:20:59 +0000 UTC
Faber's a great teacher. I had him for the First Year Inquiries class on environmental politics, and it's always worth my time to go and listen to his lectures. He also shows a lot of interesting and helpful films. He's always willing to help you out if you have a question, and gives very good advice about career-seeking in this subject. Great guy!HONR1205 2011-11-30 17:18:06 +0000 UTC
Really great class, easy exams. A lot of supplemental films. Lectures tend to get long and boring with little class interaction, but the material is very interesting.SOC246 2009-01-05 13:48:21 +0000 UTC
