I didn't realize how amazing Gillen was for 1501 until I had a different professor for 1502. He is honestly amazing, he cares, grades fairly, and is always available for help. actually the sweetest guy ever- if you have cornerstone with him, you've lucked out. i learned a good amount between taking cornerstone 1 & 2 with him and he's super kind + down to earth; he does go a little slower than other cornerstone teachers but i still got a lot out of his course.GE1501 2026-04-28 14:31:59 +0000 UTC
I cannot brag about how lucky I got with my cornerstone professor. I LOVEEE Professor Gillen. He truly cares about you and your education and is always offering extra resources and help whenever something is difficult. He gives amazing feedback and is super chill. GOATTT OF NEU so understanding and caring, I've never enjoyed a class so much! Group projects were very fun, and attendance wasn't required but his lectures were also very fun and intriguing. Where do I begin with Professor Gillen? He is the GREATEST teacher I have ever had, including pre-university. Lectures are very engaging, with him taking time to teach the material but swiftly allowing hands-on learning. Truly the GOAT of my entire semester. I genuinely learned so much and Professor Gillen is wonderful at explaining everything. He is super caring and it is enjoyable coming to class everyday. BEST prof ever. Such a sweet understanding guy that makes students excited to get into engineering. Very reasonable workload, never a stressful class (except when projects r due lol). Grades are split among really easy HW/exit tickets & project effort. He explains software so thoroughly & is always available to help out. This was easily my favorite class this semester. Gillen is an amazing teacher and his class has no crazy expectations. The only weird thing is that the projects are all based around animals which is slightly restricting. Super fun professor, he cares for his students and tries to make class interesting. He starts class with breathing exercises and plays music while we work. He is good at explaining the coding too. Gillen is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He is very kind and understanding. In class he like to make it entertaining by laughing at his own jokes etc. The content is cool, and he makes it very understandable. I did not have to spend a lot of time outside of class doing work. GILLEN IS MY GOAT! Perhaps one of the most forgiving professors I've had at Northeastern yet, and is available very frequently outside of class. Most of your grade in GE1501 is determined by your projects, so as long as you don't slack off and leave your teammates in the dust there's nothing to worry about.
