Ann has a lot of real-life work experience that makes talking about the course topics a bit more interesting and relevant. She is a dry lecturer, but class is not mandatory and she will send out reminders when class is mandatory (tests/in class assignments). Test questions come straight from the study guides and powerpoints she provides.PSYC3406 2018-03-28 15:47:18 +0000 UTC
She's not the greatest lecturer, since she does little more than read off the Powerpoint slides and can be rather boring. However, she knows the subject quite well, especially when she covers abnormal psych and uses a lot of examples of her experience in the field. She is also a very nice person, and the class is both very easy and worthwhile.PSYC1101 2017-12-12 23:24:11 +0000 UTC
Honestly I'm sure she's a nice person but she's just not a good instructor, at least not in a lecture setting. Psychology is my passion and her intro lectures put me to sleep. She sticks to her slides and reads them in a very monotone voice. There is little respect between her and the students for these reasons. Tests are easy if you come to classPSYCH1101 2017-10-25 13:15:56 +0000 UTC
I'm really sad to see all of these negative reviews. Yes, she may have spent a sizable portion of some classes reading from a powerpoint, but not every professor can be a professional public speaker. She's very kind, and more importantly, very knowledgeable in her field. It was a joy to learn from her and I would love to take another class with herPSYCH3406 2017-10-23 20:51:21 +0000 UTC
She is the type of professor to read word for word off the powerpoint slides. Attendance was not mandatory. Her tests were strictly memorizing the powerpoints. Nothing was too difficult.PSY1101 2016-12-22 23:44:55 +0000 UTC
Reads word for word off the powerpoint, ask any questions and you will get 'i don't know' as a response. you don't have to go to class if you just study her powerpoints. it's interesting subject material but unfortunately she is not, i recommend skipping the class if you are going to take it.PSYC3406 2017-05-08 13:25:41 +0000 UTC
Attendance is not mandatory. Her lectures are very boring but if you manage to know check what's going on every now and then you'll be able to get an A. She posts the powerpoints to blackboard and all you need to know for the tests are those slides. Not much effort needed.PSYC1101 2017-10-25 09:24:03 +0000 UTC
All the information needed is on the slide show, which she posts to Blackboard before class. Just do the work and fill in the study guides from the slides and you're set. Classes are, in my opinion, incredibly boring. Luckily, she only gives a few 2 point pop quizzes, and doesn't take attendance. I stopped showing up after the first exam.PSYC3406 2016-04-29 03:01:54 +0000 UTC
Lectures a lot, but throws in interesting activities from time to time. Exams are reasonable, especially if you use the study guides. Nice person, tries to be helpful.PSYC1101 2017-10-22 10:38:18 +0000 UTC
Long and boring class. She just reads from the powerpoints, and can't answer any of the questions the students have. On top of that, her tests are confusing and have many trick questions, which she refuses to give back or even go over!PSYC3406 2016-04-28 22:23:44 +0000 UTC
Not too fun but easy to do well. Very lecture heavy and she reads off of the powerpoint a lot. The reading basically isn't necessary bc she lectures the same stuff in class the next day (although if you don't go to class -which you could do and still pass- you will probably need to do the reading). Exams are mult choice and she gives study guides.PSYC1101 2016-11-18 14:19:01 +0000 UTC
Most boring lectures ever. Avoid her if possible!!! She gives unannounced quizzes for attendance and makes sure the class is not that full in order to give them, just to be mean. Her exams are tricky and people do badly on them.PSYC3406 2016-04-04 15:25:35 +0000 UTC
Blumer was by far the worst professor I've ever had. Her lectures are incredibly boring, there is way too much focus on extremely basic material, and she doesn't really acknowledge the students when they try to participate. I sat in the back of class and did other work the whole time, avoid this coursePSYC1101 2016-09-26 12:10:47 +0000 UTC
