This class was probably my favorite of all the classes I've ever taken! Though the class was lecture-heavy, it sets you up very well for the exams and weekly homework assignments. Prof. Hamlin and the TA's are easily accessible if you have any questions as well. If you regularly go to class and recitation, then the course is very straightforward.CS1800 2025-05-09 14:45:45 +0000 UTC
Had very good energy during class. Grading was extremely lenient and fair. Lectures were very clear and easy to follow, she used class time efficiently. Questions on homeworks, quizzes, and the final did not contain material not taught and were very doable if you paid attention in class.CS3800 2024-05-29 04:00:46 +0000 UTC
Instructor grading is pretty lenient and they curve the exams if needed. Instructor makes a lot of mistakes during lecture which can hinder your learning experience, but they do correct themselves. Professor would be unprepared and unorganized at times with their notes which can get pretty difficult in understanding material in a timely manner.CS5002 2023-12-16 18:35:18 +0000 UTC
Lowkey the tests were just super hard imo LOL, I did well on every homework but pretty bad on midterms + final, maybe just me. Ariel as a person is great, she's very accessible outside of class but if tests are hard for you (like me) it may not be the best so go to class because her lectures are very in depth.CS1800 2025-04-30 00:34:13 +0000 UTC
Often gets confused by her own notes, messes up in lectures, and gets corrected by students. I honestly think she is confused on the topics herself, making it impossible to learn. Homework often includes problems we spoke about in class for 2 minutes. I think if she went over questions that paralleled the homework I would learn much better.CS3800 2023-10-10 16:56:00 +0000 UTC
Prof. Hamlin is smart, and while the class is lecture heavy, I like her lecture style. She's great at answering questions during lecture, makes herself available outside of class, and is incredibly kind. It's absurd to expect an instructor teaching abstract math to never make a mistake in lecture; she's a great teacher sensitive to students' needsCS5002 2023-11-09 19:36:26 +0000 UTC
Professor Hamlin cares about her students and wants them to succeed. The class is lecture only which is fine, some lectures are better than others. The first exam was relatively difficult, second was extremely easy and just like her guide. The weekly problem sets become increasingly annoying and are worth 40% of your ENTIRE grade, so put in effort.CS1800 2025-04-14 22:42:02 +0000 UTC
Incredible engaging and clear lectures, is very knowledgable of the content, and makes you learn it so easy. A bit ackward and cringey. Attendance is not mandatory but I would highly recommend going to class, subject is very interesting too. One of the best professors I've had.CS1800 2025-04-10 16:41:50 +0000 UTC
Super nice professor and also very chill. Homework can be time-consuming but will prepare you for the exam. Probably the nicest professor in all of Khoury.CS1800 2025-04-09 19:17:15 +0000 UTC
I went to the other professor because i didnt like her she tries to be funny and im just bored of her lectures so i never paid attention. even tho i did the practice exam, i didnt do good on the exams but for some reason i ended with a B+ lolll so ig it chill.CS1800 2025-04-09 03:48:16 +0000 UTC
Professor was very warm and welcoming and its hard not to like her. Be prepared to type homework, including tedious mathematical operations, but you get used to it. She teaches really well, grading is fair, and you can really tell she cares about her students. Easy 5!CS1800 2025-04-01 19:30:37 +0000 UTC
Very well-explained lectures; knows how to make students understand a completely new topic. Transitions from content is very smooth and easygoing; if you attend all lectures and ask questions, she will make this complicated class way easier. *Be sure to go over formatting for hw since the first day cause you might get deducted some points.CS1800 2025-01-09 16:11:27 +0000 UTC
Very good professor, knows a lot about the content and makes the lectures simple to follow and understand.CS1800 2025-01-09 14:27:29 +0000 UTC
Tough Professor who wasn't able to provide a lot of support within the classroom. Also notes are horrible, so try to attend the TA Office Hours to understand what happened in class but beware, there are no zooms to check the lecture again so be careful as this professor's notes were bad and there was no zoom to look back at.CS1800 2024-12-27 03:05:09 +0000 UTC
Nice professor, easy to follow and understand during classes. Notes aren't great; stay focused during classes.CS1800 2024-12-26 03:24:50 +0000 UTC
