Hands down the best professor. You will never get bored in the class and the things he will teach you will really blow your mind. If I have the chance I will take him for every single course. This was my first cybersecurity course, and the material was approachable throughout. The assignments are engaging CTFs with creative storylines. Professor Kaan is the best Professor I've had at Northeastern. He is beyond knowledgable in his field and wants you to learn so that you are prepared to enter the industry. He is a no "BS" type of teacher and calls out industry standards that are questionable or could be improved. For both security and non-security practitioner, this course is a must take given its relevance. The professor is knowledgeable and integrates industry experience to teach the course. The assignments are designed to trigger your creative mind and the application of class concepts to solve them. Kaan has made CY 3740 without a doubt the best class I've taken at Northeastern. His lectures are fun and engaging and I always looked forward to working on the challenges. The class was difficult, but fair. People rating him below 5 stars clearly did not pay attention or seek any help out from the TA's. Only way to explain Kaan is like an ex-girlfriend, no homo. You remember her as a genuinely nice person, and you even love her from time to time, but the relationship was tough. He is kind and approachable, but his class is definitely challenging in multiple ways. Finally understood memory corruption after studying it for a semester already. Explains concepts well. You actually learn a lot in his class. His challenges are amazing, try them without AI.
