This is without a doubt the WORST professor I have ever encountered in my entire college experience. She does not seem to know what she is doing or remotely care about her job. Would never take this class again. Bad professor. Stopped coming to this class after a month. Never answers emails and when asked in person about questions she is never helpful. Lots of reading. Assigns a lot of readings, but I never did any. There were weekly assignments, which took about an hour to complete. Super chill class, I only attended once out of the whole semester. When she lectures, she reads off the slides on the board. If a student asks a relevant question, she repeats the information on the board and does not elaborate. The readings are incredibly dense and not always relevant to the discussions in class. The course was good however the professor was completely unreachable. I emailed her 20 emails and only ever received 3 replies!! If you're looking to be taught, this professor is not for you. Lectures were nonexistent, and class time was devoted to unproductive discussion or group project meetings. There were weekly discussion posts, weekly 400 word reading responses, and two large papers, together totaling 60% of my grade. Def the worst professor I have ever had. She explains the subjects of the assignments after the assignments are due, and puts random grades. Tons of reading, tons of writing, and the class is so boring. I truly don't understand why she is still employed since everyone that takes the class hates her. If you have the option to take another Sociology professor....... DO IT. She is the toughest grader and when you meet with her to discuss what went wrong she makes you feel bad about it. It's as if she took the idea of " professors should want to help the student be successful" and interpreted it in the opposite way. Whatever happens, DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! I am taking advanced math and CS classes and this class has so given me the most work out of all my classes. Incredible amount of reading, 600 word weekly assignment + 1 paper weekly + 2 final papers + annotated bibliography. The other professors for this class are way better from what I've heard. Her Lectures are entirely unhelpful and I stopped coming to class because it was completely useless. Absolutely useless teacher. "Lectures" make her seem like she knows nothing about the topic she is teaching; she reads word for word off presentations prepared by other teachers and relies on student discussion and the TA to carry every class.
