I took her communication and gender class and earned a B+ even thought I've taken three women's studies courses before. She's trying to make a class that is inherently not difficult something that is difficult to do well in. While she gives good feedback on speeches, the lectures don't give much useful knowledge. She makes an effort to help outside class when needed and has fun exercises in class. Deya is honestly a sweetheart. She is tough, but gives good feedback and there is always room for improvement. Her feedback is always constructive and well-put. I feel like my public speaking improved so much while taking this class. She also made this class as fun as possible and I enjoyed going to it every day! Deya Roy is a great professor. I completely disagree with those who are being extremely harsh and critical. Although mandatory attendance is annoying, she is very understanding when there are circumstances. Not a good public speaker, even though she teaches public speaking. The feedback she gives on speeches never helps you improve, and I didn't learn anything new in her class. The lectures in this class are extremely useless however, the feedback given after delivering speeches was great. The professor is very strict about submitting work on time and there is no room for discussion about this.
