Professor Mingolla is an amazing person. You should be prepared to put in the work in his class. Lots of material and a fair amount of writing, but the majority of class time is devoted to answering questions and it is expected that you won't understand everything. The course is less about the material and more about self-improvement.HONR1310 2024-01-08 01:23:25 +0000 UTC
Dr. Mingolla is amazing! I definitely recommend this course. He is such a wonderful professor and cares about the students as well. The content can be difficult at times, but as long as you are willing to put in the work, you will do perfectly fine in the course.HONR1310 2024-01-03 16:15:15 +0000 UTC
*Actually took 3310 Best prof I have had the pleasure of learning from at Northeastern. Would encourage everyone to take this class if possible. Would not say this class is an "Easy A" in the sense that there are easy tests or w/e, but if you're down to learn something new, participate a bit, and put effort into your 1pg/wk journals it'll work.HONR1310 2023-12-11 17:09:45 +0000 UTC
Prof. Mingolla is one of the best professors I have interacted with. I took the "Your Eye & AI" option and the class covered some pretty interesting content. The only homework is a weekly journal. The structure of the class uses a gradeless approach where he leaves comments on assignments and you meet with him to debate what grade you deserve.HONR1310 2023-05-17 23:25:37 +0000 UTC
Dr. Mingolla is amazing! He is very understanding and allows you to "grade yourself" at the end of the semester. The course is meant to be conceptually difficult, as the main way he evaluates you are through journal responses that are essentially reflections on the coursework. You do have to read some material outside of class, though.HONR1310 2023-04-13 02:23:44 +0000 UTC
Dr. Mingolla is awesome! I took his class in an area is wasn't familiar with and I didn't end up loving it, but the class was still great. Grades-wise, it is very easy to do well in his class as long as you stay engaged as he grades holistically rather than based on tests/quizzes. He's super supportive and formats class in a very engaging way.HONR1310 2022-04-05 20:38:30 +0000 UTC
Awesome professor! He really made topics interesting even if you had no background in the concepts. I appreciated how open he was to questions and how he structured the class based on what we, the students, were curious about. I learned a lot in his class that I still think about to this day!HONR1310 2022-03-30 20:59:45 +0000 UTC
Dr. Mingolla was absolutely amazing! He cared about all of his students and went above and beyond to help us succeed. The class was "gradeless" and this made it much easier to focus on the material. He understands that the material is difficult and that we will not understand it all. He cares more about us learning and pursuing our interests!HONR1310 2020-12-18 18:32:40 +0000 UTC
Mingolla's material is challenging, but there are no tests or quizzes so it's not stressful. The only work in the class is weekly journal entries and a final project. The class is "gradeless" and you ultimately choose your final grade. I really enjoyed how much this class made me think and Mingolla has great personality.HONR1310 2020-12-18 15:41:39 +0000 UTC
The material is challenging, but he is genuinely passionate about it which helps a lot. He puts in extra effort to make sure students have the best learning experience possible.HONR1310 2020-12-16 14:54:09 +0000 UTC
Very helpful and understanding. He gives you tough material, but puts no pressure for you to need to understand it completely on the first try, he will talk with you until you do. Fantastic!HONR1310 2020-12-11 23:21:03 +0000 UTC
Very kind & witty. I had him for an honors inquiry course and he doesnt give you all the answers and expects you to work to reach your own. He tried very hard to himself accessible to the class and to get the class to participate even in a virtual setting. Material is hard but I think the amount of work is appropriate given no tests or quizzes.HONR1310 2020-12-09 04:25:00 +0000 UTC
By far one of the best professors I have ever had. He really cares about his students and will go above and beyond to see them succeed in his class. The material is hard to understand at first but becomes easier as you get farther along in the course. I would recommend Dr. Mingolla without a doubt.HONR1310 2020-12-09 04:01:56 +0000 UTC
