He's genuinely one of the best professors I've ever had-- super laid-back, his priority is having students actually engage with the material. If you want a class where the prof is extremely passionate and knowledgable about the material, this is the one for you. I took Indigenous Philosophy during the first semester it was offered, and it was my favorite class by far. Getty is one of the best professors at Northeastern. He cares about his students and is always willing to help them with anything. He intentionally sets up his course so that he can grade your philosophical writing hard, to make you improve, but still let you get a really good grade through other assignments. Best teacher I've ever had, and the only one that had me dreading the end of class. Every lecture is a deep, engaging discussion. He is an effective speaker, and his style is like throwing down big boulders of well-constructed meaning in 3-5 second intervals, giving everyone time to reflect on what is said. Professor Lustila is super kind, caring, chill, and funny. He's very passionate about philosophy and extremely knowledgable in regards to the material being taught. Getty is the greatest professor of all time. Hands down. He is the most dynamic lecturer I've ever had a class with and he facilitates fantastic discussions about the material. Whether you are phil or stem, he is great at facilitating discussions and helping everyone out with their understanding of the material or their papers. Getty is a lad. Incredible lecturer who will change the way you think. Take him if you can. Also a very soft grader; just read the sparknotes before class and you're set. Prof Lustila is the best I've had at Northeastern. As I am new to philosophy, Getty made the subject easier to understand and was eager to explain anything we didn't get the first time. He's accessible, and genuinely cares about not only the subject matter but every one of his students.
