Wellbank is such a sweetheart, and you can tell he loves teaching. Just make sure you bring a cup of coffee to class! He has the unfortunate ability to put anyone to sleep. Quizzes are wicked easy, and he doesn't give a final. While attendance isn't mandatory, I'm pretty sure he does factor it into your final grade. Extremely easy class.PHIL1165 2014-03-23 10:02:42 +0000 UTC
Nice guy. Lectures can be impossible to follow at times. I never got above a B on a quiz (they're heavily curved), but got an A in the class. He says he doesn't count attendance but I have a feeling he does; otherwise I wouldn't have gotten an A. No final; three essays instead, which must also count for a lot.PHIL1101 2011-12-22 17:19:28 +0000 UTC
I am one of the few philosophy students in a class full of medical professional students taking it for a requirement. Wellbank was respectful, organized, helpful. Had the class been small and the students, interested, it would have been a terrific class. Most of the students had crappy attitudes and didn't deserve Wellbank. He deserved much better.PHLU115 2008-12-19 00:12:26 +0000 UTC
He is such a sweet guy and really wants his students to do well. His tests are very hard though but he curves them a lot and attendance counts for a big part of your final grade. It's hard to sit through class since Philosophy is a lot of talking in circles, but I still love him as a teacherPHLU165 2008-12-06 22:55:38 +0000 UTC
We only had one test and it was T/F, he canceled the final and had use write 3, 2 page case studies. I got a B- on the one test and I was freaking out. Turns out attendance is half your grade because no one shows up and the case studies count a lot. I ended up getting an A-. He's a really nice guy.PHIL165 2008-06-30 00:17:36 +0000 UTC
Wellbank is a really good person. However, his lectures do tend to get fairly tedious but that might just be because it's PHILOSOPHY. He is a fair grader. His quizzes are not the easiest but he does tend to curve them heavily, so the class isn't too hard. If you are taking Phil to satisfy humanities requirement, it may be a good idea to take him.PHIL1165 2013-12-14 13:18:53 +0000 UTC
