I've worked with dozens of directors and he is absolutely the best. None other can take a group of such diverse musicians and make them perform so well. Very clear in his instructions and can make literally anyone better at singing. HIGHLY recommended.CHOIR1 2012-12-12 10:54:13 +0000 UTC

The greatest professor ever. He is the god of choral conductors.MUSIC666 2008-09-25 11:02:04 +0000 UTC
Really nice guy; knows his stuff. He's very passionate about Jewish history and music. He did what he could to make the class interesting. The class was really easy, good if you need a 'gimme A.' The most work he gives is weekly quizzes and a small essay assignment at the end. Otherwise, he cares less about work and more about dispersing the info.MUS132 2008-05-01 16:07:18 +0000 UTC
Josh is amazing. He knows exactly what he's talking about and he's helped me learn so much more about singing. If you love singing, then chorus with josh is for you. also sneaks in the subtle jokes here and there to make chorus that much more interesting!MUS904 2008-04-03 15:46:59 +0000 UTC
Great professor. Easy and helpful, but you still really learn a lot for the class. Funny and unafraid to speak his mind.MUS301 2006-09-11 16:14:26 +0000 UTC

Ignore the below comment, probably from a music industry major. Jacobson is a great professor, and does his best to bring in modern examples. He's a bit 'high and mighty' sometimes, though.THEORY 2004-12-05 21:13:43 +0000 UTC

The man wrote the book on Jewish Music. He's probably the most definitive source on the subject anywhere. It's awesome if you're intrested, and decent for diversity if you're not. There isn't a ton of work, but he piles it on during Midterms/Finals.MUSU132 2004-04-15 14:11:14 +0000 UTC
very good professor. He is always prepared and obviously knows the subject matter. One of the best teachers at NEUMUSU312 2003-12-02 20:54:46 +0000 UTC
Very interesting teacher/class. Teaches well and very engaging.MUS1185 2003-05-18 22:25:13 +0000 UTC
Prof. Jacobson is a great conductor and obviously cares a lot about his choir and the music. I joined choir for the first time in Spring of 2007 and I had a lot of fun working in both the choir and the chamber group. Rehearsals are long and tedious at times, but he definitely knows what he's doing. Quirky, fun guy!MUS904 2007-04-04 19:02:26 +0000 UTC
Prof. Jacobson is awesome. He really wants the student to succeed and if you do the work you'll get a good grade.JEWISHMUSIC 2006-04-19 23:12:52 +0000 UTC
