Justin is really cool. He's pretty chill, and young so he's very understanding of college students. He's pretty easy going, makes lectures interesting. Very funny. Tests are easy if you pay attention. He gives you review guides that are basically the test itself. It's obvious that he wants his students to succeed. Always available for help.SOCL1290 2012-03-02 10:41:44 +0000 UTC
I absolutely love this adorable man. I think he's leaving NU, which is so sad :( Great teacher, class was a breeze, loved going every day. He's funny and intelligent. Will tell you his opinions but not try to sell them to you. Super helpful and willing to talk to students. Can't express how much I just love him. Highly recommended.SOC1101 2010-04-26 14:10:06 +0000 UTC
Difficult subject, but met with me every time I asked. Wrote to me about 100 pages of emails which answered any of my questions in incredible detail. Homework can be very difficult, but he will always guide you through it if you start early and ask for help understanding difficult concepts. Don't fall behind!SOC320 2008-12-03 18:02:10 +0000 UTC
Betz is the Wortz. I swear he made half of the stuff up as he went along. Who ever heard of a kie square anyway?SOCU321 2008-11-14 22:59:51 +0000 UTC

Good prof. Likes to help students but expects a lot. He is funny in his own way and even made fun of his ratemyprofessor reviews in class! Keep up with the reading and you will do fine.SOC321 2008-07-22 12:53:47 +0000 UTC
You should definitely take this course if you're not good at math. It's still a stats course so you will have to do some math, but Justin does a great job of emphasizing concepts over numbers. Pay attention during lectures, read the material, talk to him if you're having problems (he's always available), and it shouldn't be that hard.SOCU320 2008-04-11 15:57:06 +0000 UTC

Sometimes I was actually interested in statistics.SOC320 2008-05-06 21:41:37 +0000 UTC
I took Research Methods and Statistics with Betz and think he did a great job. He tends to beat himself up with side comments like "the book will explain this better", which I found off-putting. Beware of his multiple choice questions! They can be cryptic at times. He's a funny, friendly, and enthusiastic professor who is really down-to-earth.SOCU321 2008-08-27 22:15:39 +0000 UTC
Do not take this class unless you are strong in statistics. Prof Betz does not do a good job of explaining the material to students who are having difficulty with it. DO NOT TAKE JUSTIN'S CLASS UNLESS YOU ARE A STRONG MATH STUDENTSOC320 2008-03-17 15:50:44 +0000 UTC
Emphasizes understanding over math. Although this approach isn't any easier, I appreciate this as I had a stats class before where I felt I had learned nothing. Has a subtle sense of humor if you listen for it, but its quick and deadpan and he moves on before you realize that what he said was actually quite funny.SOC320 2007-12-20 14:15:55 +0000 UTC
Statistics do not come easy to me, but this professor gave me all the help I needed, encouraged me, and never made me feel stupid.SOC320 2007-12-20 13:51:24 +0000 UTC
