Class was online/async w great vids made by another professor. Prof Caouette was extremely difficult to reach outside of class(ignoring emails, not sending zoom links). He is a good and engaging lecturer. The class is pretty easy, and there isn't much work aside from a couple of group projects and the final. Participation is a pretty decent bit of the grade, so as long as you are regularly speaking in class, you will be fine.PHIL1145 2025-12-05 00:25:35 +0000 UTC

It is async so be ready for a lot of homework. The class is mainly weekly canvas quizzes and papers. A lot of writing, but as long as you try and follow the guidelines its not too difficult, just takes time. Participation means a lot so try not to miss and be sure to raise your hand. Prof C is caring, funny, and down to earth. I took hom for Moral and Social Issues in Health Care and he always had cool case studies and examples. He would post modules days after he was supposed to and all course material was created by a different prof--it was obvious he didn't care about the course. He didn't grade any papers until after the semester ended, so I spent the whole term not knowing where I stood grade-wise. He's a pretty easy grader, I think the lowest anyone got on our final was a 13/15. Participation matters and it's a pretty big part of your grade. Caouette is such a personable and caring (not to mention downright hilarious) teacher that no matter what the class content is, you'll enjoy just being in class. A lot of your grade is just showing up and participating, so I'd suggest you do that. The grading is strict, but the assignments are easy. Regarding Research Ethics online - The prof was inaccessible and only gave a grade for 2/11 of the papers I submitted throughout the semester despite these papers being 80% of my grade. Professor Caouette is just all around a great guy. He's really passionate about what he teaches, and he uses examples from his life to help you understand the ethical theories covered in class. Professor Caouette likes to experiment with some of his classes, so your in-class experience may vary. Nevertheless, if you like philosophy he is a great teacher to have. We had a lot of readings to do, but even though these are "mandatory" nothing happens if you don't.
