his teaching style is skimming thru practice problems, doesn't really explain or go in depth but he does many examples. coming into this class you are expected to know and have memorized trig, special triangles, unit circle, etc. otherwise when he writes answers on the board you'll get lost. his feedback is very blunt but he cares.ME2350 2026-01-02 17:43:16 +0000 UTC

Prof Wan is a great guy, I really enjoyed speaking to him. He tries to be intimidating and will make comments that could discourage some people. His style of teaching was ineffective for me; he would rush through practice problems every lecture and skim over theory. Harsh grader but gives retakes for midterms. KT was a real pleasure to have(summer). The 3 exams were non-cumulative but very challenging and made you think. There was never anything unreasonable and were about what you'd expect going in. He really wants his students to succeed. Tests felt very heavy but his office hours are very helpful as he gives out similar example problems. He solely does example problems in lectures which was very helpful but I also had to learn a lot on my own. He can be tough and frank about what's required to pass and whether or not you have a good shot. But he cares so much about helping students succeed. While a little intimidating at first, he cares so so much about seeing all of his students succeed. Hosts cram sessions before exams and weekly larger office hours with practice material. His tests are very heavy, but if you do poorly he would usually let you replace your lowest test grade with your final test grade. His lectures are spent mostly on going over examples, but his office hours are a great way to get build a connection and review any material you struggle with. Knowledgeable on subject and clearly explains material as well as its practical application. Weekly quizzes are easy as he always gives a very similar example right before the exam to make sure you are refreshed on the topic. I enjoyed taking Statics with prof.Wan. The course material is challenging but he does a great job providing lots of examples. Before each midterm / final he gave a practice version that had the EXACT same questions just with a different diagram / numbers. The professor taught the material in a way that I could understand very well. He did a lot of practice problems, which were very helpful in learning the material. The homework was harder than the class content, but easier than the tests. Professor Wan is good at what he does, math and specifically statics. Teaching it is a different story. He has a an accent which is forgivable and doesn't disrupt lecture that much. In addition however, he goes fast when doing examples and makes errors that would go unnoticed if students don't say something.
