I found the class super interesting, unfortunately it feels like she will personally come for your degree. Content is pretty straightforward but exams do not reflect that. I love Dr H but she is NOT an easy A. The homework article readings are worth a solid chunk of your grade but at least you don't have to pay for a textbook. She is a funny & engaging lecturer, and is also willing to help or give feedback outside of class. Loved this class and the professor. She's fun, passionate, and very real. Grades come from two midterms (with a cheat sheet), a semester-long campaign project, and smaller assignments. For your own sake please avoid. She is the most boring lecturer who talks nonsense for almost two hours every class. Then the midterms are ridiculous because of her really specific and arbitrary grading practices. Doesn't allow students to take notes on laptops and has them do it by hand which makes note taking much harder and tedious. Her classes are 100 minutes of non stop pointless/boring lecture since she loves the sound of her own voice. Not sure where all this glazing is coming from. This was the most work for an elective i've ever had to do. Insanely hard exams and her grading gave me asthma. You put in what you want to get from this class. I enjoyed her lectures and the various speakers on zoom. Work: readings(optional), discussion (quick), 2 midterms(notes sheet), final project (group project), and 2 pg paper. Dr. H makes lectures genuinely interesting. Sometimes class was on zoom! My comfort class; can skim readings/don't have to do all of them, discussion posts not due till class begins, 2 midterms WITH notes sheet, and final is a group project. I had Dr H last semester but I still want to write a review because she is an amazing professor. Funny, engaging, and passionate, Dr H made campaign strategy such a fun class (even on an off election year). There is a decent amount of work (projects, exams, readings), but you will learn so much.
