as someone taking this as an elective, it was great there wasn't much work. you only need to do 5/10 discussion posts and 3 exams. however, this course is 100% memorization, which is time consuming to study for the exams. overall, she made the lectures interesting, even at times when the content wasn't.1220 2025-11-25 02:48:40 +0000 UTC
lectures are well paced and thought out, wish we got to engage more since its such a large lecture. i have a brain that prefers smaller classes, but i am (for the most part) easily focused in her lectures even tho they are huge. chill class though not too much work. go to the lectures though, your attendance is gradedMCR11252 2025-02-12 22:17:42 +0000 UTC
Prof Ahnert is a really respectable person. The course was pretty straight forward, but 75% of the course was based on 3 exams, so that isn't great when the exams are 25 questions each. Overall a great prof who gives detailed info about the courses she teaches.2335 2024-06-25 23:38:00 +0000 UTC
Media Culture and Society was a very interesting class. It was a large lecture so I wasn't expecting it to be the most engaging, but Prof Ahnert was a great speaker and listening was never monotonous. She provided a clear study guide before the 2 multiple-choice exams.1220 2025-04-28 22:31:31 +0000 UTC
Her exams were online and open note and she was very nice. She was passionate about the information she taught.MCR11252 2024-12-12 01:40:28 +0000 UTC
AMAZING professor! Lectures were interesting and I never dreaded going to class. She is a very easy grader and the assignments are also very easy. She is extremely caring about extensions and midterms are not bad. I especially liked how much she cared about the subject and everyone's opinions and thoughts on the films. Defs one of the best at NU!2335 2023-04-22 01:41:47 +0000 UTC
Professor Ahnert wasn't very good at giving clear instructions with projects and essays, and would just take off a bunch of points after during grading. Her classes were very boring, but attendance was mandatory. She never gave feedback also after taking points off, like she took 8 points off and wrote "good work" and didn't give feedback.MCR11252 2024-12-10 20:43:17 +0000 UTC
Absolutely awesome professor! Dr. Ahnert taught awesome lectures. The course was extremely enjoyable and work was very manageable. She was a clear grader and was very flexible with deadlines. You could tell she was very passionate about the content which made the course very enjoyable and fun, would definitely take again.2335 2023-04-22 01:36:59 +0000 UTC
This class is an easy addition to a schedule. She is very passionate about the topic and created all of her slideshows. The workload is light, and the midterms/finals are open note.MCR11252 2024-11-12 19:45:27 +0000 UTC
I LOVED this class. The professor has so many good ideas and I learned so much from this class. She creates a safe space to share your ideas and discuss important topics relating to race and social justice. Just go to class and do the work and you will learn a lot and won't have to put in too much work. Would definitely take this class again!2335 2023-04-10 13:38:05 +0000 UTC
