really interesting class, and the professor is awesome. very helpful, and allows plenty of time for multiple versions of projects before handing in a final product. critiques were helpful, and it was always obvious whether or not you should redo your project. enthusiastic and kept us up to date with art lectures and museum exhibits. great class!ARTF1124 2012-04-24 00:17:15 +0000 UTC
This man has a profound passion for art and it shows in his teaching. This class with Matt Rich opened my eyes to what can be called art. The projects are interesting, unique and challenging; we were pushed to create work in unfamiliar mediums. If you don't take this class with Matt Rich, you're doing it wrong.ARTF2223 2012-01-03 13:28:53 +0000 UTC
This class requires a lot of time and effort, it's rigorous. Expect to spend lots of time in the art studio. It's very hard to get an A, but you learn a lot in the class. Matt Rich is very helpful and passionate, and makes the class enjoyable and interesting. One of the best professors I've had.ARTU131 2009-03-27 19:38:54 +0000 UTC
matt rich is a great teacher. extremely enthusiastic about his course and his students. because hes passionate hes not always clear in describing assignments, but he is very willing to take the time in class or one on one to clarify. not a hard grader but expects effort and commitment to workVISVIS 2008-08-09 12:05:40 +0000 UTC
He is hard working and cares about teaching. His classes are challenging and interesting. If you take the time to talk with him outside of class he is an extremely patient and attentive listener.ART131 2007-11-10 09:10:24 +0000 UTC
Matt is a really nice guy and is always willing to help. I had to take this course for my major and was not really interested in it, but his enthusiasm and love for art pushed me to work harder towards the end. Assignments are a little unclear just in that he wants you to interpret them creatively. Definitely taking a class with him again.ARTF1124 2012-03-27 15:40:20 +0000 UTC
Overall, I learned a ton. Can be a tough grader, but if you really have a strong opinion, can challenge his grades. You really need to work on these projects more than just the night before. His advice for "molding" ideas is useless. He talks a lot, and his slideshows and readings are pretty boring. But otherwise a really cool guy and fun class.ARTU131 2007-04-23 13:01:56 +0000 UTC
Really nice guy. Very helpful if you have questions, but be prepared to be given an opposite response to what he said in class. Give him a chance, this was his first semester. Also had a varied lesson plan of reading, writing, field trip, slideshow, ect.ART131 2006-11-07 17:45:59 +0000 UTC

i am in love with matt rich. He's so enthusiastic about every project, and sprints around the room when he gets excited about something. you definitely have to work hard, but its very possible to get A's and you'll learn a lot. my favorite class.ARTF1124 2009-11-19 13:57:36 +0000 UTC
