Class is long, repetitive, and truly made to be boring. Do NOT take if you've had any previous art training.ARTF1200 2026-01-14 21:51:12 +0000 UTC
Meh. I took this class because I needed an art elective and it was time consuming but not the worst. Doesn't really teach unless you seek out her direct feedback.ARTF1200 2026-01-13 17:08:13 +0000 UTC
Gives far too much work for a 2 credit hour class. 5 weekly sketches in addition to textbook reading and reflection, as well as occasionally videos. Class is a bore, and she doesn't speak to you unless you seek her out. Grades weekly sketches very harshly. Don't take this as an elective unless you're great at drawing and willing to put the time in.ARTF1200 2025-12-30 20:27:47 +0000 UTC
Skylar Borgstrom is an awful instructor. She forces everyone to draw only her way, ignores prior experience, and grades you unfairly. Class is just two hours of mindless still lifes with zero teaching. She falsely accused me of copying photos and handed out C- and D- grades despite accurate work. This class ruined drawing for me. avoid at all costsARTF1200 2025-12-13 21:50:28 +0000 UTC
The HW for this class is 5 30-min drawings every week without exceptions for holidays. She claims that a 30 minute drawing every day isn't time consuming, but this simply isn't true. I took this class as one of my general electives because I thought it would fit well with my very busy schedule, but that was not the case.ARTF1200 2025-12-12 01:25:24 +0000 UTC
She takes this class far too seriously and does not accept absences even if excused or wellness days. It is an introductory drawing class but she grades harshly. There was no final/final project which was nice, but the outside of class homework and writing just got so tedious and it is difficult to know whether she is happy with your work or not.ARTF1200 2025-12-11 16:26:50 +0000 UTC
Class was less drawing-focused than expected. There were readings, weekly sketchbook assignments, weekly self-evaluations, etc. She gives good advice but only if you seek it out, otherwise she won't speak to you. It felt like I had to do the learning myself and she was just giving work. Workload exceeded what you'd want from a 2 credit class.ARTF1200 2025-12-09 00:14:44 +0000 UTC
this class made me not like drawing anymore. assignments are repetitive & the sketchbook homework was time-consuming & did not teach me much. she prides herself on giving feedback, but most of the time her suggestions are so vague and not helpful, and when grading homework she will often give a low grade with few words instructing on how to improveARTF1200 2025-12-06 22:14:09 +0000 UTC
