Avoid him if you can. His tests have random questions that were never discussed and aren't in the book. You won't do horribly in the class, but his lectures are incredibly boring and he's not very helpful.PSYC1101 2013-10-20 20:22:14 +0000 UTC
His classes are a bit boring, but if you study a lot from the book you'll do just fine. His lectures are more of a "fun facts" time; what is on the tests come directly from the book. 5 MC tests and some essays here and there. His grading methods are very fair!PSYCH1011 2013-04-30 00:21:24 +0000 UTC
Professor Block is one of the nicest professors I've had during my time at Northeastern. He cares about his students and will help you out whenever you need to. He is also a great listener and teacher. He gave great insight into the animal mind and provided us with great readings. Take his classes if it interests you, you won't regret it!46701 2013-02-19 16:01:53 +0000 UTC
Very interesting class though I was already interested in the topic. He used a lot of videos which were helpful and kept people's attention. He was also helpful outside of class during one on one and group meetings. Sometimes he was unclear about homework assignments and if and when they would be collected.PSYC4670 2010-12-22 13:28:41 +0000 UTC
This class is pretty boring. He goes on about things during the class that don't pertain to anything graded. Make sure you take a lot of time on the reading responses because those are the only graded assignments, which he doesn't tell you. The final is the same as the reading responses. But he is a really nice person.PSYCH4670 2010-05-11 11:46:04 +0000 UTC
Great great great great great man. Nice person and really cares about the students. His style is a bit antiquated, but Marty is a class act. Love him.PSY2350 2010-03-29 23:22:34 +0000 UTC
The textbook is pretty good and he is nice and helpful outside of class. But it seems that his classes are designed to put you to sleep. Not organized, not interesting in class. Take it with another professor if you can.PSYU101 2009-07-22 01:59:03 +0000 UTC
This guy will put you to sleep. The topics of this class are really interesting and so is the reading, but this guy makes lectures about it unbearable. Also be prepared to write ALOT of essays/journals, no tests at all. Nice guy, doesnt grade too hard, but if at all possible take this class with another professor.PSY350 2009-04-13 16:37:41 +0000 UTC
so boring. bring anything you can to class. hw, laptop, whatever, you name it, because whatever he says in class IS NOT ON THE EXAMS. do the online quizzes and memorize the book. took attendance for my class so you have to go, but bring something to do for god's sake. i cannot emphasize enough how boring he is. take it with another prof if possiblePSY101 2009-03-30 19:07:53 +0000 UTC
Great guy. Very understanding, thoughtful and willing to help. Always willing to chat with students outside of class about problems and to give advice. Very kind.LABPSY 2008-05-19 21:00:55 +0000 UTC

3 hour class twice a week which is fine when you go to the zoo but hell the few times you have to sit through a 3 hour lecture. Going to the zoo is great but he's long winded. Nice man thoughANIMALLAB 2005-12-16 00:04:15 +0000 UTC
great guy, can be boring.ANIMALPSYC 2005-08-31 12:14:46 +0000 UTC
Dr. Block is a very caring man with a huge heart. He is very interested in the topic and is always willing to help students when they dont understand. THis class is fun because there are no tests and you go to the zoo twice a week for class. He is really interesting and the class is awesomeANIMALBEHAVIOR 2004-12-10 16:09:26 +0000 UTC
So hard to pay attention in class: he rambles and never stays on topic. You have to read the textbook and pay attention to the in-class videos to survive. No one ever knows what's going on. He never gives advance notice for assignments or tells you if he's collecting them. He seems like he'd be a perfect grandpa, but he's so frustrating as a prof.PSYC1101 2013-08-05 23:01:07 +0000 UTC
