All you need to do is attend class, take notes, and ask questions if you are confused. Prof Hunt is a very straightforward lecturer but he cares about his students and the topics he teachesSOCL2321 2025-04-30 17:07:31 +0000 UTC
Course is lecture-oriented and test-heavy, but this is all covered in the syllabus. Attendance is a component of the grade but is not mandatory per se (you just lose points for unexcused absences, which some students are okay with). Class meetings were interesting and instructor is well-prepared and knowledgeable. A good experience overall!SOCL1101 2025-04-30 14:01:33 +0000 UTC
Completely lecture based with no homework only graded on 3 exams and one extra credit paper (SOCL1101)SOCLSOCL 2024-04-29 21:59:38 +0000 UTC
Prof. Hunt, although sometimes a little monotone, is clearly passionate about the subject. His lectures are very organized and easy to follow. If you need to take an intro to sociology class, he's a great option.SOCL1235 2023-11-17 19:33:05 +0000 UTC
Prof. Hunt is a good, fair teacher. Some find him on the boring side but I felt that his explainations for certain concepts was refreshing.SOCSTATS 2006-04-19 20:09:49 +0000 UTC
I find him to be a nice guy. He can be a bit on the dry side, but he makes an effort to get to know your name, grades fairly, and is excellent at explaining things. Very good professor, in my opinion.SOCU320 2003-11-13 19:30:33 +0000 UTC
Taken all three classes he offers. Straightforward and teaches right from the textbook, but that can make the mandatory attendance feel a little redundant if you read. Unfortunately cursed with an extremely flat tone but you learn to pick up on his passion. Exams are largely predictable but have one or two random questions on minor sidenotes.SOCL2321 2025-04-14 16:51:30 +0000 UTC
Such a cutie and so nice. People are too mean to him. I dedicated 30% of my brain to listening to him in this class and the rest to studying and it was great! As long as you go to the lectures you'll be fine. The exams are full of questions about something he mentioned in passing that you didn't even write down because it sounded too specific.SOCL1101 2025-04-11 23:40:27 +0000 UTC
Hunt gives good powerpoint lectures- he knows how to sum things up and present them in an organized manner. However once he switches to class discussions class feels disruptive, and doing so unhelpful for learning. He should just stick to lecturing with powerpoints. Too much assigned reading by the way.SOCLSOCL 2013-01-12 21:53:08 +0000 UTC
For social psychology, there is no homework. The grade is based solely on three tests which is a little intimidating but it's an easy course if you look over the study guides he provides. You learn a lot in the class and it really makes you think/curious. I declared a minor in sociology because of it. Hunt is a good professor and would recommendSOCL1235 2022-04-23 15:19:44 +0000 UTC
Grade is based on two exams and nine homework assignments. Professor Hunt is very knowledgeable and seems to care about his students.SOCL2321 2025-03-05 19:35:16 +0000 UTC
Teaching style is mostly lecture (big class). Lectures are clear and he posts his slides after each class. Grade is based on three exams but I hear he generally offers an extra credit paper toward the end of the semester. Attendance is important if you want to do well on exams since he uses examples in class that go beyond the textbook.SOCL1101 2025-03-23 20:47:53 +0000 UTC
Hunt’s lectures are very dry. Class time is poorly spent, as discussions were unhelpful. The class is very unstructured and disorganized. His lecture slides are not available to us on Blackboard. Most proximally, the class is too test-oriented, the final grade is only based on three MCQ exams. I don’t recommend taking this class with him.SOCL1235 2013-04-14 17:28:54 +0000 UTC
Beware that this class is text heavy and you have to read in order to do good. As someone who did not pick up the textbook, I did okay based of his lectures because he is clear and sums up the textbook pretty well. There are 9HW assignments and 2 tests (mid-terms & final). Overall this is a good class, I do recommend it especially if soc majorSOCL2321 2023-01-24 14:24:32 +0000 UTC
Straightforward and fair. Good lecturer who does expect students to attend class.SOCL1101 2025-03-05 19:32:17 +0000 UTC
