My favorite class yet! Lande's enthusiasm by itself makes this class worth taking. He is brilliant and hilarious. He knows how to evoke interest and to make the most complex ideas fun and playful. Take his metaphysics if you can!PHIL4505 2012-12-09 01:36:52 +0000 UTC
challing but fair. thought provoking, ensightful, and illuminating.PHIL1 2010-01-06 14:29:09 +0000 UTC
Fantastic professor...extremely interesting and clear, as well as entertaining. He grades fairly if you put in the effort and is always willing to help. Truly loves the subject and inspires the same in his students. I hope I can take another one (or more) of his courses!PHL2330 2009-12-08 13:17:07 +0000 UTC
The single best professor of my (so far) three semesters at Northeastern. Any philosophy student should jump at the opportunity to take one of his classes. Not the easiest classes, but certainly the most enjoyable. His Ancient Phil. class my first semester influenced me to add a second major to my studies (Philosophy). Extremely smart, charismatic.PHIL235 2009-09-23 11:53:56 +0000 UTC
Lande is wonderful! We always have great discussions and he makes impossible texts completely understandable. He has a GREAT sense of humor and responds well to questions. Attendance is important as well as participation. He is a difficult but very fair grader. Office hours are highly recommended--even just to go chat.PHIL330 2009-04-15 12:32:28 +0000 UTC
What a character! Prof Lande' seems to be on an eternal caffeine rush! But he's a good lecturer, presents material well, usually responds well to questions and, when you can find him, is very helpful outside of class. His expectations are fair as is his grading. He's a good guy and I learned a lot.PHLU330 2007-06-29 14:41:35 +0000 UTC
Prof. Lande was my favorite professor I've ever had! I started out wanting to only minor in phil. and then wanting to drop it, but Lande talked me into not only not dropping it, but making it my second major. I took 4-5 classes with him, loving them all. Hume was my favorite class and Lande made it wonderful. He is tough, but fair.PHILHUME 2007-04-30 12:27:48 +0000 UTC
What a great professor. I've taken several classes with him. Goes very in-depth with most philosophers studied and is very good at making the texts understandable. Lectures are fantastic.PHLMOD 2006-10-22 21:56:18 +0000 UTC
Had Lande for Modern Philosophy...what a blast. He booted about 1/4th of the class out the door the first day though feeling they didn't have the pre-reqs but it was well justified, you need to have some sort of backing when dealing with modern. Little intimidating talking to him at times but he's not invicible. Funny guy too. Great prof.PHIL0000 2006-08-24 17:53:54 +0000 UTC
Had this man as a prof in '98 or '99 - he is a character, and the way one imagines professors should be. Passionate and a great help outside of class. A funny, wise man.PLATOREPUBLIC 2005-11-21 19:31:56 +0000 UTC
Lande is fantastic. Not only is he very intelligent but his lectures are very interesting, and he does a great job making sure everyone (who raises questions) gets it. Go to all of his lectures, he's such a character. He is a stickler on pre-reqs, but with good reason, the class discussions stay at a higher level. Take his classes.MODERNPHIL 2005-11-09 17:46:45 +0000 UTC
