His class is extremely dry. He lectures about readings from the book and doesn't really allow anybody to express his opinions. He is a overall nice guy and I don't think he wants anyone to do bad, but his online quizzes are way too difficult and there are copious amounts of really long, confusing readings he assigns.PHIL1101 2011-04-08 19:01:18 +0000 UTC
A nice man,but I regret taking his class.Students are not challenged except through a large workload (difficult quizzes due way before we go over in class)Comments/discussions are never well explained. His answer to a students question is always just "No" or "that's not it".Take another class from the dept b/c you will learn and benefit so much morePHILO303 2009-12-25 16:01:54 +0000 UTC
Great professor--he really wants you to learn and do well in his course. Philosophically, he's something of an egalitarian, and he applies this approach to grading, extra credit opportunities, and assistance as needed. I wish that more students had participated in class discussion, but lazy people will be lazy people.PHIL2303 2009-12-18 00:32:44 +0000 UTC
Great Professor! He really enjoys what he is teaching and gives a lot of handouts to help with understanding the material. He also gives a lot of opportunity for extra credit points.PHL115 2009-10-30 22:19:27 +0000 UTC
He's a great teacher! He's always willing to help and wants his students to do well. He's really good at what he teaches, and gives lots of worksheets and practice problems to do in class. He moves a bit too fast sometimes and assumes everyone knows the material, but is overall awesome!PHLU115 2008-04-11 21:00:25 +0000 UTC
You WILL be able to understand him. I promise. Just, uh, give it a week or two. Outside of the accent, he's a great guy, very enthusiastic, honestly wants everyone to succeed and enjoy the material. Sometimes oversimplifies stuff in a way that comes back to bite you later if you don't REALLY get what you're doing. Great professor overall.INTROLOG 2007-01-04 14:42:10 +0000 UTC
I think he's very clear. He tends to repeat the material several times. His accent is not a problem after the first two classes. If you have any work ethic at all, you'll enjoy his classes.LOGIC 2005-03-07 17:12:20 +0000 UTC
He was a good teacher, enthusiastic about the subject (intro to logic), and you DO get used to the accent. It's important to stay on top of the material, and also very difficult if you aren't really a linear thinker. But the prof is cool; if you're interested in logic, the course of worthwhile.PHL110 2004-11-22 18:57:41 +0000 UTC
A very nice man who is definatly over excited with what he is doing. He has a lot of enthusiasum and he wants to see everyone learn and succeed. However, it is VERY hard to understand him due to his accent and the fact that he talks fast. BEWARE.....INTLOGIC 2004-08-23 16:44:28 +0000 UTC
This guy isnt that hard but the guy needs subtitles in order to understand what the hell hes sayin! TERRIBLE.....FPHL 2004-05-12 19:01:30 +0000 UTC
Content's not too hard. The real challenge is translating what he says to English and staying awake as he rambles.SYMLOGIC 2004-04-27 21:14:33 +0000 UTC
I highly disagree that he's a jerk..he's a nice guy and tries his best, but his accent is a bit difficult to decipher. I didn't have any problems with tests, papers, or class except his strict attendance requirement.INTROPHIL 2004-03-21 00:59:39 +0000 UTC
Strongly disagree with anyone who speaks badly of professor marton. He is clear and understandable, eager to help, and very knowledgable. If you have trouble, i wouldnt be blaming the prof...PHL215 2003-11-10 22:57:36 +0000 UTC
Hes a Jerk. Talks to fast and writes unclearly on the board. Knows his subject matter well, but teaches to fast. More unlogical then logicalSYMBOLIC 2003-05-20 22:59:34 +0000 UTC
Really nice guy, wants everyone to participate to make sure everyone understands, willing to help out and answer any questions you might have, gives you hints for hw assignments if you can't figure it out...stay organized!! and stay on top of the material!PHL115 2004-10-27 10:47:53 +0000 UTC
