Rachel is very kind and loves to talk to students. Looking over the assigned textbook chapters is a good way to make sure you are keeping up, but just taking notes during class is enough to do well on the exams. Exams are pretty straight forward, she gives a lot of extra credit and her grading system is to your benefit.SOCL1101 2026-01-16 05:05:17 +0000 UTC
This has been my favorite professor thus far. Her teaching style is incredible. She will explain the same concept in numerous ways to ensure your learning style aligns with one of the explanations. She is approachable and makes class interesting. You must study for the tests and take notes, but they are not tricky. I recommend her highly.SOCL1101 2026-01-14 22:25:07 +0000 UTC
She gives A TON of extra credit. Def more work than other sections but not hard at all.SOCL1101 2026-01-08 13:41:45 +0000 UTC
One of the best classes I've taken at Northeastern. She is an amazing professor—super passionate about the subject and genuinely wants students to care and understand it. You learn a lot, but it never feels overwhelming because she explains everything so well. Readings are reasonable and well chosen. Would absolutely take again.SOCL1101 2025-12-16 21:51:11 +0000 UTC
Very intelligent and great teacher who is very very clear about what you need to succeed in the class and provides you with all of the resources and materials to do so. Will assign a good amount of readings but SPECIFIES PAGES and paragraphs so you don't have to read entire chapters, and all readings are super helpful for tests. easy to succeedSOCL1101 2025-12-04 20:18:27 +0000 UTC
it's nice to see how passionate professor meyer is about sociology. it makes lectures very enjoyable and easy to follow along to. her exams are very straightforward. if you show up to lecture and do the readings (not graded), you're guaranteed a good grade. i can't recommend her enough!SOCL1101 2025-12-01 22:06:31 +0000 UTC
Just somewhat pay attention and understand the course material and you will do great!SOCL1101 2025-11-25 15:28:02 +0000 UTC
Prof. Meyer was great! The class was a piece of cake and she gave many opportunities for extra credit even though your main grade is comprised of 3 equally weighted tests. Lectures were straightforward and as long as you took notes on that and skimmed the textbook you were fine.SOCL1101 2025-11-22 22:57:15 +0000 UTC
