I took this class as an elective, not really expecting much, but I loved this class and Sarah! She was so enthusiastic and passionate about the subject. Tests were very fair. Sarah is very nice, extremely into the subject, and easy to understand. Hand picks the readings for the course. The only problem is her strict policy on computers and cellphones. Really good teacher. Enthusiastic and funny. Interesting topics. She lets you vote as a class for one topic to study at the end of the semester. Do the reading because she tests on them. Violence in the Family rocked! I heart Sarah! She rules! If I could get a beer with her I would. If you ever take a class at NU take this one and Soc of Violence with Levin.They really know their stuff! Although well meaning, she mostly teaches facts, not the underlying meaning behind them. She strikes me as one of those not-too-bright people who believe that learning is about regurgitation instead of thinking critically. Simalarily, her exams don't test for understanding, just details.
