Painfully smug and poorly communicative.COMM1113 2024-03-04 19:41:50 +0000 UTC
I hated public speaking but it's much easier and more comfortable for me now. Taking Tim's class improved the way I speak and I believe that his feedback is the reason why! It is very detailed feedback and even before speeches, you can contact him to meet outside of class. The 4 speeches did take a little time but they were nothing too crazy. 10/10COMM1112 2023-12-17 00:50:08 +0000 UTC
I'm convinced Barr left all the positive reviews himself because there is no way he's a 4.1/5. This class is a waste of time. He has specific ideas of what he wants to see but refuses to tell you so the class and your grade are a guessing game. Horrible. Look at his reviews from his time at Pitt, everything you need to know.COMM3230 2023-12-15 23:11:39 +0000 UTC
I'm not good at public speaking but I do believe I improved after this class. His feedback is always super detailed and helpful. The reading materials were really interesting and fun to read. Personally, I had to put in a lot of effort into my speeches so I wouldn't say it's an easy A, but definitely really doable! He's an amazing professor&person!COMM1113 2021-05-01 20:06:39 +0000 UTC
Be aware of this professor-he is very passive aggressive and makes it blatantly clear when he doesn't like you. Principles of argumentation is an interesting class and while attendance is not mandatory, it is basically the whole class. I didn't attend a lot due to personal reasons and a miscommunication with the syllabus and he clearly was upset.COMM1112 2023-12-14 02:51:13 +0000 UTC
He doesn't know how to construct an argument. Calls into question his whole career honestly.COMM3230 2023-03-21 23:15:36 +0000 UTC
Professor Barr is amazing, his feedback is really constructive and if you show that you actually put effort into your speeches, you're well on your way to an A!COMM1113 2021-04-22 20:52:58 +0000 UTC
I really enjoyed taking Principles of Argumentation with Tim, the lectures and discussions were very interesting and while the readings were challenging at times, they were all fascinating and worth the time. He's easily accessible out of class and always willing to talk or help with a project!COMM1112 2023-04-27 23:12:22 +0000 UTC
He was a great prof! Esp. during Covid and the BLM protests, he was very accommodating and even changed some deadlines because of the state of the country and how it affected students from putting their usual focus to work. He gave clear feedback on papers and was very available to students for questions (which was great esp in an online class) A+!COMM3230 2020-06-26 20:12:17 +0000 UTC
Everyone in my public speaking class loves Tim! He is super kind and inspirational and he gives good feedbacks that actually help the students to do better. He pays attention to every single student and is super fair with grading. He provides students with comfortable presenting environment. He is also super understanding and responds quickly.COMM1112 2020-03-17 08:48:50 +0000 UTC
