If you show up to the classes, you will do fine. Reading the book is not needed. He has pop quizzes but if you are awake during class, you will pass. Many students would miss class or be on facebook the whole time and then be enraged at their poor grades. He was a great professor and taught in a straightforward manner.PSYCH3452 2013-05-06 22:58:33 +0000 UTC
Dr.Petrov makes the class extremely interesting and fun. He incorporates a lot of germane and fun material without drifting off of the topic. He also makes helpful recap slides in which he sifts through the random fun facts and just highlights the key points necessary to know for the exams. He also has a fantastic sense of humor, I love this class.PSYC3452 2012-12-02 00:12:03 +0000 UTC
Had him for Sensation and Perception. Worst teacher I have ever had. Eliminates Review Session when a class was missed, and forgets to tell us when we are having quizzes. Material is confusing and you can barely understand him.PSYC3 2012-11-07 16:02:02 +0000 UTC
In soviet russia, petrov studies you. The best prof so far, cynical, dark, sarcastic. uses dry humor when teaching, has review slides for each exam, clear, and has bonus essays where you had to be critical of your answer. each correct answer will improve your final grade by 3.33%. Really nice guy, knows the material, doesn't care if you don't carePSYSP1 2011-03-30 17:47:01 +0000 UTC
Worst professor I've ever had--zero passion or ability to teach. Does not care if you do badly, and if you try to get help from him you're screwed. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!PSYC3400 2010-12-17 22:55:09 +0000 UTC
I really liked this class, his review style makes it easy to do well on the tests, if you go to class then the questions are clearer because he often mentions them. (IE: a couple of the question on the last test were actually jokes he had made in class in reference to the topics.) Mind you I haven't taken the final yet haha.PSYCH3542 2009-11-29 21:43:25 +0000 UTC
WORST TEACHER EVER. DO. NOT. TAKE. THIS. CLASS. ever.PSYCH452 2009-04-13 15:34:43 +0000 UTC
i took Sensation and Perception with this man and he will give you DEATH AND DESTRUCTION seriously. his exams are very tricky and unclear. his reviews are useless. boring lectures and when i asked for help, he showed almost no interest in helping me. DO NOT take courses from this man. he will give you DEATH AND DESTRUCTION.PSY600 2008-12-20 00:37:22 +0000 UTC
It's only his 2nd time teaching the course and it seems he's getting better, but not by much. Go to class, memorize the review, move on. I got 2 A- on the 1st 2 tests, stopped going and got a C+ on the final. It seems I actually did learn something in class.PSY452 2008-04-27 19:42:01 +0000 UTC
DEATH AND DESTRUCTIONPSYCHSENS 2006-12-12 20:38:02 +0000 UTC
Really bad class. All lecture, but questions taken from obscure points in text. No reviews before exams, no interest in helping students understand material...becomes irritable when asked for any clarification. Makes it very clear he is here for research purposes and not teaching. Dissapointing and difficult.PSYCHU452 2006-11-02 15:58:20 +0000 UTC
idk what these other people are talking about; they're crazy. Yury is awesome. Some topics are dryer than others, but it's mostly a fascinating class. Pay attention to the lectures and especially the review sessions, and you're golden. Even if you only memorize the review slides, I'd say you're guaranteed a B- at the worst.PSYCH3452 2009-10-20 12:34:41 +0000 UTC
I had no idea what this guy was talking about. Ever. Stick to the book and try to follow along with his slides. He spends most of the lecture showing clips and not really explaining the connections between things. He mumbles/ rambles a lot. Smart guy and all but I hated this class.PSYC3452 2012-09-19 14:09:40 +0000 UTC
This is an awful class. i dont think its the material but rather the teacher. he isnt helpful at all, he wont even call on you if he sees that you have your hand up. it is confusing and he doesnt explain things well, he isnt confident in what hes doing and the midterm and final are worth 75% of the grade. not goodPSYCHU452 2006-10-25 17:28:37 +0000 UTC
Worst professor I've ever had at NU. Told us on the first day of class that even if we memorized everything he taught us we could still fail the exams. Don't take this class!PSYC3452 2010-12-06 11:59:28 +0000 UTC
