Not very nice, and I faced microaggressions in class. Sarcastic and not supportive.ITLN2102 2025-01-13 16:56:28 +0000 UTC
Took Italian with him online and it was honestly really good. I didn't have room in my schedule to take it in-person but taking it online was just as good! He puts in the work to make it interactive, so that you won't get behind on work, and grades knowing that most people don't know any italian. Really wants you to learn.ITLN1101 2025-01-10 19:43:28 +0000 UTC
Prof. Tognetti is a nice guy who is a good teacher but can be disorganized at times. The homework load is inconsistent (One week there will be nothing, the next week you will have multiple IPAs/HWs/Tests due). The tests are very difficult so beware. Go to class, go to office hours, and get a tutor if you still need some help and you will be fine.ITLN1102 2023-11-28 17:40:17 +0000 UTC
I haven't taken anyone else for Italian but I chose him again. He's witty and interesting and very helpful. I got my grade with not much outside work but if you practice Italian on your own outside of class you can probably get a pretty easy A.COMM1101 2016-11-16 15:10:52 +0000 UTC
This guy knows his stuff. Born in Italy and all that. Really nice guy that cares about his students. Perfectly willing to answer any and questions.. you just have to take the initiative to ask. Goofy and fun. Really enjoyed his class!ITAL102 2013-05-02 11:41:54 +0000 UTC
I learned more Italian in one semester with this guy then I did through 4 years of high school. He knows his stuff, though he can be a bit rude at times.LINU102 2011-12-04 19:42:30 +0000 UTC
I placed out of level 1 and went into Alessio's level 2 class after 7 years of not speaking italian. It's a real testament to his skill as a teacher that I am finishing this class with an A! He's huge on participation but does not expect you to be fluent, so it's always better to try talking in class. He's also sassy but always was clearly joking!ITLN2102 2018-04-18 15:13:28 +0000 UTC
Prof Tognetti is really understanding but expects you to know your stuff. Super clear guidelines on quizzes and homeworks, but be sure to study. Homeworks are graded for completion and quizzes aren't insanely difficult as long as you study. Always take notes during class. Overall super nice guy and funny to talk to.ITLN1101 2023-01-10 15:46:55 +0000 UTC
One of the best professors I've had at NEU, especially for introductory level Italian if you actually care about learning the language. He is clear about requirements, and is always willing to meet outside of class or send extra practice material. HW handed in all at once before tests. Also very goofy and fun to talk to. Highly recommended!ITLN1102 2016-08-08 09:00:12 +0000 UTC
Professor Tognetti clearly cares about his students and requires participation - going in order so everyone has to speak. However, I found that the vocabulary on the tests were often surprises as he would not publish the lists we came up with in class. Found it a bit hard to keep track of what I was expected to know for each test. Lovely prof!ITLN1101 2022-06-24 01:20:30 +0000 UTC
Never taking this teacher again. He's rude and not prepared for class lesson. Even if he does, those are stuff you can learn at home. Unreasonable grading, no sympathy at all.ITLN1102 2015-04-22 14:20:14 +0000 UTC
Let's start with the basics, Alessio is a great teacher. If you care about learning the language there is no doubt you will do great with him guiding you. He is extremely fun as a teacher. Class is relaxing and you learn so much. People here that said he is"mean" just cannot take jokes. This man is a legend. Keep being you Alessio! -il GrecoITLN1101 2018-04-14 21:07:15 +0000 UTC
I had him for Italian and I enjoyed his class. Italian didn't come easy for me, but if you pay attention and do the work and study, you will do well and pass . He's also a cool and funny guyITLN1101 2017-02-09 21:12:01 +0000 UTC
Great guy, fair class. He makes his lectures interesting and you can earn extra credit if you go to caffe Italiano once a week where you drink coffee and play games and speak Italian (any level). I also got more extra credit for attending an Italian event on campus and writing a page about it. I decided to take him for level 2, enjoyed the classITLN1101 2016-08-08 09:10:31 +0000 UTC
This guy is the best! He knows his stuff and makes the subject interesting...I originally took his class just because he's hot, but now I'm continuing with italian. You can't miss too many classes or your grade gets lowered, but if you do miss anything or are just falling behind he's willing to meet outside of class to help you catch up.ITLN1101 2014-03-24 21:46:22 +0000 UTC
