LOVED professor Sokol. She genuinely cares about all her students and wants you to do well in class. You NEED to attend class to receive a good grade, and she is also very lenient with grading. There are 4 exams on lockdown and 2 projects in this class, but if you put in a few hours a week to this class, you're sure to get an A. Highly recommend.SPNS1101 2025-12-01 15:15:49 +0000 UTC
Professor Sokol was a great teacher for elem spanish 1. we used the textbook and its homework assignments which were very user friendly. she would also go over the material in class and answer any questions we had via email or in the class. she is caring, but may sometimes come off as rude, which she does not mean to come off that way.SPANISH 2024-01-07 01:49:49 +0000 UTC
Don't listen to the negative ones! She's been a WONDERFUL teacher, very easy and fun class; brought chocolate on Valentine's day; extra credit for just going to a free spanish concert; very conversational. Only hard assignments were quizzes, accepted weeks late work for 100%. If there's a zero (she's not tech savvy), talk to her and she'll fix it.ESPANOL 2022-04-22 11:22:44 +0000 UTC
I am going to save you do not take her. I read all the bad reviews on here and thought how bad can it be? BAD. I should have ended up with at least an A- she cannot work canvas, is so unorganized I would receive 0's on assignments because it would be a year late because she didn't change the dates from last year and couldn't fix it.SPNS1102 2022-03-08 23:30:23 +0000 UTC
Professor Sokol was hilarious, and it was so clear she enjoyed the subjects she was teaching. Sometimes she forgets that we can't read her mind, and we end up scrambling to complete assignments she never even gave us, but she's so nice it doesn't even matter. Very entertaining class. Super light on the homework (never did anything outside of class)SPNS3401 2021-12-09 23:55:07 +0000 UTC
Sokol is very nice and so funny. However, her class is extremely unorganized and lacks structure that makes it hard to actually learn course material. Be prepared to teach yourself grammar and vocabulary outside of class. Spent a decent amount of time on homework that I didn't feel like I retained. Had to study A LOT to get a high B+.SPNS2101 2020-04-14 04:22:08 +0000 UTC
I took Sokol for a dialogue to Argentina where she was the professor of record for the culture class. While the situation is fun and the Spanish language school is satisfactory, she did VERY little (delegated to unprepared TAs) and was unclear on grading of the few things we were required to do. Not very respectful, although she tries. DO NOT TAKE.CLTR3000 2017-09-11 19:31:44 +0000 UTC
You'll get an A if she likes you and you participate. She doesn't teach anything. Be ready to teach yourself all the information she asks you to know for quizzes and tests. Class time is waisted doing group work and half of the class doesn't even do the questions. She won't even know if you are in class or not in class.SPNS2102 2016-12-18 14:37:54 +0000 UTC
She's very LOUD, so at 8am it can be a little much. She'll also change your name to sound more "Spanish" (e.x. a girl name Jennifer became Josefina) so if that bothers you/offends you, don't take a class with her.SPNS2401 2016-09-26 09:21:47 +0000 UTC
Profesora Sokol came into teach after my original instuctor cancelled class all the time. I went from knowing nothing for the first month of class, to being able to have an entire conversation (limited on topics) with a classmate. Loves participation, but since its a language class, thats pretty much a requirement. I highly reccommend!LNS101 2008-11-14 15:18:17 +0000 UTC
doesnt actually teach, doesnt tell you whats on tests, takes tests away from you to check progress in the middle of the test. she has a good personality but she sucks at teachingLNS201 2008-04-03 17:01:55 +0000 UTC
Loved her! She's hilarious and really made it easier to have the class at 8 AM. Really easy to get an A, make sure to go to the class because she'll take points off of your grade if you have too many absences. And she'll loved you if you're always in class. Love love love Profesora Sokol!LNS102 2008-04-03 11:03:08 +0000 UTC
profesora Sokol is awesome! nice and funny lady, very very understanding. definitely go to class (she'll take off points) and do what is assigned, it's not even that much. class is pretty much always laid back.LNSU102 2008-03-28 11:03:06 +0000 UTC
she is amazing. she really just wants everyone to do well and enjoy the class. she tells you everything that will be on tests and although i said attendence was not mandatory she does keep track, but if u go over 3 absences she starting dropping your grade. but just explain things to her, she is very understanding and fun.LNS311 2007-04-04 19:15:02 +0000 UTC
