Really nice person but does not teach. She expects you to teach yourself grammar using the textbook then come to class knowing everything so you can talk and use it. The homework was a lot of busy work but she includes it on the quizzes and you talk about it in class. Worst part is she doesn't teach, you have to teach yourself literally everything.SPNS2101 2020-12-04 17:30:20 +0000 UTC
While she is a kind and well-meaning person, her class is absolutely terrible. Expect class to be cancelled at least once a week, and lots of complaints about how stressed or tired she is. She assigns up to 4-5 hours of homework PER CLASS which she never grades. this class should be called advanced busy work. Not sure why there are so many positiveSPNS3501 2020-10-26 17:08:02 +0000 UTC
Kind but def avoid. 50% of course grade is BUSY WORK for hw which she never grades. 2-6 hrs of busy work due each class. Complains and rants non-stop about Trump. Makes everything political and says things that are objectively untrue to support her opinions. Lazy teacher. Gets upset when u are 2 min late and decreases your grade. Lectures are poor.SPNS3101 2020-08-15 04:59:21 +0000 UTC
If you want to have a dynamic class and actually speak Spanish, read current news stories, and have great discussions, fun group work, take Brucato. She's demanding but very fair and understanding. Loved her and the class.CLTR4944 2018-06-25 11:54:53 +0000 UTC
First class I've taken with Profesora Brucato. Will definitely take another. I learned so much and it was a relief to take a fun language class since I'm a Bio major which is intense and stressful . She's very understanding and cares about each student. I'm planning on attending her Dialogue to Spain next summer 1, 2019!SPN01 2018-03-17 10:35:59 +0000 UTC
I'm a Bio major. Took this for required culture class by NU. I learned so much. Professor Brucato is amazing. She's knowledgeable and chose excellent, interesting films to discuss. Requirements: attendance, view films and comment, short essays, film reviews, indiv. presentation, group video, Final essay 3pages. Best class ever!CLTR1240 2017-12-17 14:05:04 +0000 UTC
Maria is a very funny, caring professor. You will need the textbook to complete assignments, and there is an online homework portion of the class. There is little feedback given but you will most likely receive full credit for what you hand in. Maria's class has no grammar portion so take this course to improve your conversational Spanish skills!SPNS3102 2017-04-04 13:54:22 +0000 UTC
Dr. Brucato is a hilarious and amazing person who really cares about her students! Her Spanish class was the one class I really enjoyed this semester. Fairly easy to get an A as long as you keep up with the workload and participate in the class discussions. She is very approachable and provides extra help (really don't need it for this class).SPNS4800 2016-12-11 19:22:16 +0000 UTC
most of the class time was talking, she expects you to know the grammar before entering this course so if you are not good in grammar, don't take this class or be ready to do a lot of work outside of class teaching yourself ext material. everyone in class speaks Spanish, she hates it when u have side conversations or don't make eye contact2102 2015-05-12 22:11:49 +0000 UTC
Brucato is a really helpful teacher. She encourage you to speak spanish in class. I learn a lot in her class. Exams are fair and if you review and catch up with all the materials you will do fine.SPNS2102 2014-04-11 12:41:58 +0000 UTC

I also took 3102 last semester with Prof. Brucato. I speak at an Advanced level and she was incredibly helpful to everyone. She even gave me interesting readings that we discussed later. Love her!SP3102 2012-08-27 15:09:17 +0000 UTC
She was a very enthusiastic and funny professor. One may be fooled to not do work because of her care- free personality. However, BEWARE. She will give you the grade that you deserve. If you are looking for a fun class that you will actually learn in, take BRUCATO, (Just don't forget to do the supersite and manual).SPNS101 2012-05-03 22:59:38 +0000 UTC
