Professor Aldrich is hands down one of the best professors I had at Northeastern. Such an inspirational lecturer who genuinely cares about his students. He is up front with his expectations of students, and makes the course material accessible and interesting through his engaging lectures and genuine passion for the subject. Highly recommend!POLS4937 2026-01-07 02:28:47 +0000 UTC
His workload was at times difficult but it's clear he has high expectations for his students and will do anything in his power to help them achieve success. I learned invaluable knowledge on my DOC with him I'm thankful to have had him as a professor.POLS2395 2025-08-29 00:20:08 +0000 UTC
Aldrich was surprisingly fun. I found it weird at first that students had to lead classes throughout the semester, but I appreciate it in hindsight. You really become an expert on topics you lead and he assists while you lead by shedding more lights on topics.POLS7346 2025-05-07 22:19:33 +0000 UTC
I really enjoyed my class with Professor Aldrich. The workload and grading were fair and it is obvious that he makes an extra effort to provide a variety of interesting course materials. He cares a lot about his students and was available outside of class for extra help. This was my first master's course and I hope to take another with him again.POLS7341 2025-01-20 21:14:06 +0000 UTC
I took East Asian Politics from professor Aldrich, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Hes an amazing professor, one of my favorites Ive had. He strikes a fantastic balance between leading classes himself, and allowing students to lead discussions. The end result is an environment where its extremely easy and fun to absorb the information presented.POLS3482 2019-12-18 01:39:07 +0000 UTC
Prof. Aldrich's East Asian Politics course was a lot of work - run like a graduate seminar with us leading - but I learned a lot.POLS3842 2016-10-31 21:15:41 +0000 UTC
Professor Aldrich does an excellent job of making himself accessible to students at all times. His email responses never take more than 30 minutes, and his advice and recommendations are always insightful. Throughout our trip, he maintained a good balance of academics while also encouraging fun. I highly recommend him and the Japan DOC.POLS4937 2025-08-07 18:03:10 +0000 UTC
Professor Aldrich expects a lot of his students, but you'll get back what you give tenfold. His lived experiences and research are fascinating and genuinely influence the way I see the world three years later. I wish I had the chance to take more of his courses!POLS2395 2025-08-14 13:06:38 +0000 UTC
Aldrich is a very chill guy. Definitely knows his stuff and what he's talking about. Not a very tough grader, but also a fair grader. Do not miss class, as he gives a lot of valuable insights.POLS7346 2025-04-24 17:23:19 +0000 UTC
He is truly such a great professor, and despite this class being online completely, he was always available to talk to. Whenever I did talk to him he always gave great feedback and inspired me to do better on every subsequent assignment. I'm even taking a class again with him next semester.POLS7341 2024-12-11 21:05:00 +0000 UTC
Professor Aldrich is a fantastic professor. This class is reading heavy and attendance and participation is mandatory, but all of the work is worth it. The chosen units are very interesting and cover a wide range of issues related to East Asian Politics. Professor Aldrich is so encouraging, knowledgeable and fun. He is ABSOLUTELY an asset!POLS3482 2016-12-14 13:18:15 +0000 UTC
I really enjoyed the class! The main grade came from participation and the main research paper that we worked on over the course of the semester. He was very helpful and helped us throughout the entire research process. It was very educational and an amazing experience overall! Would really recommend!POLS4937 2025-08-03 20:55:58 +0000 UTC
Really enjoyed the class was a cool strcuture. Lots of reading but he makes it easy with reading questions. One paper which is worked on throughout the semester. Had 2 tests (if you pay attention you will get a good grade). Brought a lot of professional work into the classroom which was awesome! You should take the class!POLS2395 2024-12-03 16:27:41 +0000 UTC
Great professor, can not recommend his classes enough. Class was socratic based upon readings which caused discussions to go wherever the interests of the class lies. Very accessible outside of class and he is always happy to help. Grading instructions are clear and feedback is given quickly.POLS7346 2024-07-08 14:26:36 +0000 UTC
He is possibly one of the kindest, most caring professors I have had the pleasure of knowing. He is a truly phenomenal person, down-to-earth, super smart, and inspirational. I think everyone who meets him can instantly tell that he is a gem of a human. He is fair in grading, realistic in coursework, and gives GREAT feedback. A wonderful man.POLS7341 2024-11-25 21:03:21 +0000 UTC
