Dov is an amazing and inspiring lecturer who knows what he's talking about. He's the reason I am certain about pursuing international affairs. If you go to class, the reading is pretty redundant. Hi class is relatively intense, but if learning about the Arab-Israeli conflict is something you're interested in, you won't regret taking it. It's one of the few classes I've taken at NU that I feel has been legitimately worth the money. Waxman is a great lecturer and the reason I declared International Affairs as my major! If you show up and take good notes, you should be able to do well. He is understanding and available outside class. I only really used the textbook for recitation. Clear and engaging lectures, cares a lot about his students and the material. Never met someone so knowledgeable about the subject (Arab-Israeli Conflict). He asks for and receives class participation. Only thing I didn't like was his grading which wasn't clear and EXCEPTIONALLY difficult. I took POLS1160 with Professor Waxman as a freshman, but he really shines in POLS3470, his class on the Arab-Israeli Conflict. Take this course if you have the chance. He is a true expert in the field and a fantastic lecturer. I took Prof. Waxman for IR. Great lecturer - presented material clearly, easy to hear and understand him, nice British accent, very warm. His TA was super helpful too, recitation is mandatory anyway. Dov is a very clear lecturer and handles a classroom well. I love IR, but this Prof. was very frustrating. Many of the guidelines he gives are unclear, such as how to do the IDs on the tests.
