Lectures were dense, loaded with irrelevant examples, + even though I took extensive notes the midterm questions made no sense and were disconnected from things discussed in class. Everyone got C's and D's on it and she did not curve. We also did random class activities that did not explain much. My saving grace was participation. I am being way too generous in this review, and even I say to NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! She is not cut out to be a teacher and should not be employed. With that being said it is clear that she has passion for political science research and she likes to see people learn and be challenged, however she has absolutely no idea how to do it. Throughout the semester the material covered in class was straight from the homework. She changed the grading system within the last 2 weeks dramatically dropping everyones grade, I don't think anyone benefitted from it. Doesn't respond to emails only makes vague canvas posts. Do not take Eliza for any class if you actually want to learn and value stability in a teacher. Her grading criteria is unclear and her syllabus changes every five minutes. My grades fluctuated between 70 to 95 in the last week of class, despite getting above a 95 on everything. this is one of those few teachers in life who make learning miserable. She should quit. I didn't do bad in her class but within the last three weeks she kept changing the grading system. dropping most kids from high nineties to an A- or a B+.
