Professor Chung is very funny and dedicated, but his lectures were hard to follow. Lots of studying and self-teaching is needed, but the quizzes were very easy. Homework problems were difficult but graded on completion. If you are not willing to study or teach yourself things, don't take his class. Ken Chung is super smart and funny. His lectures can be a bit confusing, but he provides lots of context and gives extra help before exams. He gives out random 5 point extra credits during the semester. Also he has the most out of pocket jokes. GO TO CLASS, do his review problems, and you will pass. The exams are straightforward. funny but highly unorganized. Didn't have a syllabus the first day of class. Grades were just the 3 tests, but I don't think he follows them when giving letter grades. I learn things, but not sure if it was everything we were supposed to learn. Gets really into the math and derivations. Chung may come off as a bad professor at first--his life is a little over the place. But he tries his best and in the end everything works out he is very nice with grading (good scale and takes off some questions in the final to give us more time). He did not have slides and often went on tangents. Very interesting guy and funny, but I did not learn anything. His practice exams are the actual exams with maybe one or two questions changed. He seems to be a nice guy and can be funny but it seems like he goes on tangents. You are graded on 3 exams and there's no finals so if you're a bad test taker like me, don't take his class. Ken is a funny guy, but cannot teach. He expects you to come in knowing a lot of material. The majority of class is him doing problem examples and racing through content. 3 tests (no final), curved but hard. Very good prof. To get a good grade in his class you need : 1. Have taken IB or AP (then it's super easy) If you haven't taken APIB , then : 2. Read the book 3. DO THE HOMEWORK!!! - all the questions on tests are from the homework In other words, he isn't a hard teacher, pretty good at lectures . Wicked easy class. Lectures are so good, take down all notes. Its so easy to follow. I didnt read a single page of the text book, fell asleep in class (but still got all his notes) and got an A in the class. His lectures show step by step how to solve problems. I had Ken Chung for CHM 101 and CHM 104. 101 was a complete joke, and if you put in a little effort you got an A. Chem 104 was a lot harder and you actually had to go to class. Professor Chung is great. His class is always interesting, though he may get sidetracked sometimes it's nothing too distracting and he usually always get side tracked by something really interesting.
