I hated this class and Piatt didn't help. I truly thought I needed to drop out, but it was really her making GEN CHEM way too difficult for no good reason. I talked to others who had different profs and I would've gotten an A with them. Also I'm crying she wrote that 2/24 review herself. Stay away at all costs, these reviews are accurate.1161 2026-02-26 17:13:33 +0000 UTC
Piatt is known for writing reviews for herself on RMP, but it didn't affect my opinion of her much. However, she wrote a fake review on Feb 24 to insult struggling students, showing that she doesn't care about the class. Stay away from her at all costs.5620 2026-02-26 16:54:06 +0000 UTC
Switch to the 2-semester chemistry course for science majors or life science that does not have Piatt anywhere written on the syllabus. You still get to be on track with your plan of study, and it's so much easier for the first semester.1151 2026-02-01 02:23:32 +0000 UTC
If you've seen her reviews and still took her class for whatever odd reason, you've done it to yourself. Good luck.1161 2026-01-17 21:03:27 +0000 UTC
Many of the other students here clearly have never paid attention in class. Dr. Piatt is truly an inspiration and always finds a way to make the class interesting. Her dog is also adorable! Make sure to take good notes, review material before class, and ask GOOD questions (not bad questions for topics we already went over)!5620 2026-02-24 18:52:51 +0000 UTC
Amazing professor that cares about her students and makes time to explain confusing topics. Very easy class to get an A. Can do it with your eyes closed. Highly recommend if you want to take something away from the course and apply it to your life.1151 2026-01-31 00:58:01 +0000 UTC
She single handedly made me change my major so I would never have to take chem again. This class took over my life and actually made me reconsider going to college in the first place. If you can take an 8am three times a week instead of her class please do it. If you like anything stem don't take this class because it will make you hate everything.1161 2026-01-02 19:22:53 +0000 UTC
Do not respond to the rating below. The professor made it lol.5620 2026-02-21 06:01:37 +0000 UTC
While she is very passionate about chemistry, her teaching methods are ineffective. The homework relies entirely on math based skills while the tests are mostly composed of vocab based and set up but don't solve questions.1151 2026-01-09 21:41:05 +0000 UTC

Dr. Piatt is one of my favorite professors that I have had at Northeastern. Yes, the class is challenging, but she does a great job of making the content interesting. I would recommend going to her office hours and asking questions after class. She truly cares about her students and wants them to succeed.5620 2026-02-07 00:19:28 +0000 UTC
she had a failed acting career playing the green line in the MBTA play and highkey the greenline running me over would have been more merciful then taking the class. God better help you if you dare look at your phone or she will yell at you and accuse you of disrupting the whole class even though she's the one yelling. Her dog is lowk cute tho1151 2026-01-06 22:05:01 +0000 UTC
Avoid at all costs1161 2025-12-15 07:52:07 +0000 UTC
Do not take this class with Dr. Piatt. Do not take any class with Dr. Piatt.5620 2025-11-24 14:45:48 +0000 UTC
Genuinely i dont think I couldve imagined a worse class. Everything people say is true. The text book doesnt help and homework doesnt reflect the test. Homework each week takes atleast 6-8 hours when done properly (which does not include the time for readings). Lectures are fast paced, any recordings are prohibited, and participation is required.1151 2026-01-04 05:54:07 +0000 UTC
