If you can avoid Luca, do it. He is not a good teacher. His lectures are just him doing practice problems but he doesn't explain anything and just starts doing it and gets it wrong half the time. He is a brilliant guy who struggles from a language difference. I took Structural Analysis 1 which wasn't easy. He definitely knows his stuff, but has a hard time communicating concepts. the professor is a very nice guy but i did not like his teaching style at all. just sort of talks at you while doing the problems. exams are each worth 30% of your grade and are three questions each, easy to get partial credit but also difficult to lose a lot of points on.CIVE2221 2024-12-12 00:58:05 +0000 UTC
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Very smart person, but doesn't know how to teach AT ALL. The only thing he does in lectures is examples, which are wrong half the time. Notably the exams don't even reflect the homework or exam practices. Office hours he is extremely distracted and has to do other things every couple of minutes. His homework is graded harsh and so are the 3 exams that make up the entire grade, not to mention they don't relate to homework or anything done it class. I had Luca for Statics. He's pretty funny and overall a nice guy. You have to really pay attention to him to learn, he is a genius but he speaks quietly and with an accent. His tests are pretty hard.
