Definitely passionate about the subject but expects too much from students. Very all over the place with lectures and will shame you if you don't know something when it's literally his job to teach it to you. Great course, awesome experience, OK professor. A terrific guy, extremely knowledgeable about his subject-- transportation engineering, infrastructure, policy, Boston-area developments, international stuff-- but has a tough time interacting with students in class. I have had Furth twice. Be prepared for a lot of hw (3 per week). Tests are easy but he takes off for the smallest things (i once got the right answer but -5 for no commas after every 3 digits).
