Bro she is so boring, her grading is alright. she got mad at my class for not attending 8am in freezing rain. She is very high school teacher like. She gave almost no extra credit. her grading system wasn't bad.1107 2026-01-21 19:30:55 +0000 UTC
As a first year, I loved her. Most times it's lecture but every once in a while she'll have worksheets for students to complete during class with peers. Tests are lecture based so as long as you pay attention in class you should be good. I definitely recommend taking this course with her.BIOL1107 2026-01-15 21:27:53 +0000 UTC
She is the BEST. Attendance isn't mandatory but going to class & participating is super important. Prof McElligott is incredibly supportive and reachable outside of class. Test corrections but she expects you to learn from them. Best prof at NEU yet!BIOL2299 2025-04-28 01:41:14 +0000 UTC
I have taken Missy for two semesters now and I love her! At first I was struggling but she helped me. She is a great professor and most importantly passionate about what she does and teaches. Her class is really interesting because of the way she ties everything to the real world. Need to study a lot for exams because they are difficult.BIOL 2015-04-26 14:01:16 +0000 UTC
She really loves teaching Bio, but the tests were difficult. If you pay attention and try, you could get a good grade, but it's hard to get anything above a 90.1107 2025-12-11 03:35:30 +0000 UTC
If you are passionate about biology, TAKE THIS COURSE! The course pushes you to do a lot of reading and homework, but really teaches you the material. Lots of small assignments to get a higher grade!BIOL1107 2025-12-15 17:56:11 +0000 UTC
Stem Cells Section - Her tests (w/ test corrections) are based on articles or lectures read/discussed in class. The class involves active listening and participation, and classes are recorded w/ audio and screen-share. She is clearly a great, passionate, and caring scientist and teacher. Her class reminded my of my excitement toward biology.BIOL2299 2023-05-20 03:08:40 +0000 UTC
She's really helpful if you go to her office hours and she really wants you to succeed. Going to class isn't mandatory but it really helped for some of the topics we discussed. There's a lot of material but getting an A in her class is far from impossible.1107 2014-12-09 19:55:37 +0000 UTC
She is a wonderful, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable lecturer. Gives opportunities to keep your grades afloat, generally very helpful and the class is tough but comprehensible. The one thing is her tests are HARD. You can know all the content and still do bad on the tests.BIOL1107 2025-12-12 02:21:34 +0000 UTC
lots of out of class work that requires time each week but it balances out your exam grades nicely if you do them. post class assignments are hard but i learned a lot and overall enjoyed her classBIOL2299 2023-04-26 16:34:07 +0000 UTC
Great professor! She is very clear about what is expected of you and a good funny lecturer. She will give you study guides to fill out before the midterms; there will be no surprises. She also makes a point to be available and tries to cater to all students by showing you real world applications in different sub-fields. Very happy I had her!1107 2014-11-10 20:44:07 +0000 UTC
Her exams are very difficult and honestly ask too much sometimes, but she's a decent professor. Speeds through her lectures, but has a good amount of availability in office hours.BIOL1107 2025-12-11 16:40:20 +0000 UTC
Post-class assessments were hard and exams were confusing, but if you put in effort you will pass. She is super sweet and a very passionate biologist, so it made the class more engaging.BIOL2299 2022-05-04 01:37:53 +0000 UTC
she is great at explaining things and keeping you engaged. there are three exams that consecutively weigh more of your grade as they are cumulative. the third exam is weighed more than the final. the tests are difficult but not impossible. very hard to get 100 or even above a 90 on the exams. there are a lot of assignments so it is a heavy workloadBIOL1107 2025-12-03 03:29:21 +0000 UTC
I was having problems with my mental health. I remember her expression when she said I couldn't submit this homework assignment (that wouldn't really impact my grade) a day later. I think a mark of a good teacher is how they treat ALL of their students and how they try to help them out. You never know what is going on behind the scenes.BIOL2299 2020-12-14 00:56:13 +0000 UTC
